    hillbilly vs. the bastard...

My fish are vanishing! Sometimes, they are half eaten and left on the concrete shores. At first i thought it must be a Thai cat.

Keep, in mind my attack dog was inside protecting the family.

So what the hell is going on? Then the evil bastard shows his head...

    I liked this bit

Local customs often forbid the killing of monitor lizards for any reason, but their antisocial behaviour does not necessarily go unpunished. Cisse (1971) recalls that a Senegalese man who found a Nile monitor in his house helping itself to his breakfast eggs found himself unable to kill the intruder, but vented his anger by tying the animal up and giving it a sound thrashing with a belt before releasing it, bruised but otherwise unharmed. It remained in the vicinity, but never entered his house again.

A bit difficult to spot any lizards in the pics...

But, come on, lizards are lovely animals, they need to eat as well. Keep it as a pet!
Or I'll have it off you if you manage to catch it.

I have had some, slow-cooked in bamboo by the neighbour - lovely, but too many bones and bits.

Get a cat. If they don't catch the bastard at least they will eat the remains.

Those things grow big, I saw one monitor lizard that was about 2 meters long once crossing the road, I thought it was a crodile, the staff said not to kill it as it was bad luck.

    Stroller,

If ya want a recipe, here it is:

Put said (dead) monitor/lizard in a muslin bag after disemboweling.

Don't confuse this with a Muslim bag, she might complain.

Next, place bagged animal in a pot of water and boil it for 20 mins.

Remove bagged and boiled carcass from pot and separate flesh from bone.

Place flesh in wok with pre sauteed chili, garlic and onion with a little oil, simmer for 10 mins. Add grated ginger, a squeeze of lime juice,..and enjoy!

    PS

The remaining water in the pot makes a great soup,...just add a little garlic, salt and a few chopped vegetables,....Yum!

Appears you have resident animals appreciating your manor.
    lizards and snakes.
The mothballs (nathalene) might also work with the lizard just some in a grilled sided cannister might be worth a try. cheaper than new fish

One of the things I love about this site. Where else do you get an account of a running battle between a man and a snake?
