What to plant in this spot.

There is a spot in my yard that due to the wall orientation, house and trees, gets no direct sun.
everything I have tried there so far has not done well, ( the area by the banana tree)
I would appreciate any suggestions . (we are in Khon Kaen)

    BB,
Are you looking for further shade or just some nice greenery?

I'd get digging, get some nice stones, and plant an oven pit with pizza oven, BBQ, seating and surround sound.

some vegetables that would do well in the shade.
I planted Spinach, but it did not do well, I also planted string beans with equal success, dill and mint fizzled out.

BB, I think you'll struggle to grow any veg somewhere with a lack of light. I know that beans need sunlight as do leafy green veg.

Our 'lawn' is just bare earth beneath the mango trees as even the grass won't grow without the sunlight.

For mushrooms you'll need to make some kind of structure to keep them moist and in the dark... we tried mushrooms, you buy bags of spores, stack them up and try to grow them but it was hard work and failed. The correct moisture, temperature and light are crucial.

Dill and mint? I think that even herbs will need some natural sunlight... and who would want to grow Dill?

How about making it an orchid area as they have adapted to grow in the shade. Actually the wife grows some nice looking red and green leafy plants in pots that thrive in the shade and she reckons she can sell them for a tidy profit (although of course that doesn't include the cost of the pots, compost and the gardener's time that I've paid for... ... bless her). I'll post a pic of them tomorrow.

    Or better still...a dartboard....

Thai women, if anything like my wife are great at throwing spears.

Been playing for a year now and I reckon we are both at around pub level. We both give my dad a good hiding although he hasn't been round in a while

Get yourself a Blade 6 carbon dartboard some tungsten darts, a lit surround and a beer fridge

Hours and hours of fun....and exercise

    ^ Bogon tip #694

Put a large sheet of carboard behind the dartboard.

Looks like after a year, you are still having trouble hitting the double 2's, 3's and 7's.

...the double 12 has seemed to have come out unscathed though.

I agree with Mendy, limited sunlight will be a challenge to grow plants except for natural vegetation that prefers partial or low light. I would look into big leave plant species. They tend to like low light. I would also definitely start whatever you decide in pots to see how they fare. I have done a tremendous amount of plant trials here and did in a pot so if they didn't like it they were easy to move. You could put a brick patio in that area with potted plants as well. Maybe have a BBQ pit in the area. Lots of options. Good thing, Its always shady so it sounds like a nice cool place when its an inferno during summer.

That board is a week old
I didn't think of moving the numbers around on the old board until I read the pamphlet on board maintenance with this new one

BB, I wouldn't go down the darts board route.

I went to a lot of trouble a decade or so ago to bring a darts board over, back when I still believed I'd develop a social life in Isaan.

    It never really took off...

I'd leave it as is for that moment what you need a quick exit from the country and somewhere to plant the ex-wife.

    Wow a Blade 3 too.

Didn't the wife or gardener take to it? You need to vary it, with 301 killer and cricket.
    Start off with clock.

I've just clawed back 20 quid of the wife's housekeeping at cricket

Although she gave me a little fright

    The Sun is overrated.
Its like having lithe fit Thai pussy around you all the time.
You soon tire of it and...
