I remember as a very small boy sitting with my grandfather who would ask me to find the hidden images/items. Can see three in this the eye, the dynamite stick and the alien.

Just went and looked at the Wikki page, and apparently there are a number in each cartoon, and since 2008 the number of them is given by the small number above the cartoonists signature.

Never knew that.

Anyway, apparently these are the images he places in the cartoons (did not know they had names either!):
