The latest data shows that Iran has increased its oil exports in the first month of 2012 despite the embargos imposed by the western states against the country's oil sector.

Recent data released by the Joint Organization Data Initiative (JODI) showed that Iranian crude export has increased in January despite sanctions.

Iran, the second-biggest producer of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), exported 2.265 million barrels a day in January, its highest monthly figure since December 2008, Bloomberg reported on Monday.

Police in eastern China shot dead a gray wolf on Monday after seven people in Tengzhou were attacked in the space of six days, leaving two dead including a 62-year-old woman.

The police found the wolf in a wheat field and shot it in the leg, then chased the injured animal over 12 miles before killing it, China Daily reported.

However, police remain unsure that the dead wolf is the same beast that attacked the local residents, according to the Shanghaiist blog.

A new Israeli law is trying to fight the spread of eating disorders by banning underweight models from local advertising and requiring publications to disclose when they use altered images to make women and men appear thinner.

The law, passed late Monday, appears to be the first attempt by any government to use legislation to take on a fashion industry accused of abetting eating disorders by idealizing extreme thinness

Jaguar Land Rover agrees joint venture with Chery in China

Jaguar believes there is great appetite for its models in China

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Chery Automobile have agreed a joint venture that should pave the way for production of Jaguar and Land Rover cars in China.

A new, jointly owned company will be formed, with a view to also establish a research and development facility.

The company will also aim to develop and manufacture new models, as well as set up engine manufacturing operations and create a sales network in China.

The two firms said they wished to "leverage" their respective strengths.

"Demand for Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles continues to increase significantly in China," JLR's chief executive Ralf Speth and Chery's chief executive Yin Tongyao said in a joint statement.

Groom Max Kay who set wedding hotel on fire jailed for arson

Max Kay admitted starting the fire at his wedding venue on 19 June

A groom who deliberately set fire to the Cheshire hotel where his wedding reception was being held has been jailed for six years.

Max Kay, 37, of Liverpool, admitted starting the blaze at Peckforton Castle Hotel in Tarporley in June last year.

Chester Crown Court heard that Kay was "massively" drunk and had argued over the bar tab and wider wedding bill.

He was sentenced after admitting arson that was reckless as to whether life was endangered.

Passing sentence, Judge Roger Dutton said: "There is a long background to this - principally surrounding, it would appear, your ego.

"Having been made bankrupt... you embarked upon a wedding that would involve paying a figure of approximately £25,000 for a ceremony you could nowhere near afford.

"It was all to maintain a bravado with friends and family and to make it appear you could afford such largesse to friends and family and those you wanted to impress.

"In the end you sought, and achieved, revenge against the proprietors of Peckforton Castle."

Kay, a property developer and father of four, gave no reaction as he was sentenced.
