| Senior Member | Been a spate of accidents in the Jomtien strip between the lights and Hanuman, at least two reported deaths and loadsa those white spray markings that are supposed to remind people they're in control of potentially lethal hardware. One I saw had motodop take off from Hanuman towards Pattaya, weave at speed through approaching traffic to the other side of the road and smack into a young lady motorcyclist going the same direction, just in front of me. Blood from her head/face, didn't move much and prolly in shock, not a clue about moron's passenger who was also laid out flat, but moron was back at work when I passed by again later that afternoon. |

| The Dog | Sukhumvit Road, accidents and film stars So yet again I am coming back from the animal hospital, doing about 100km per hour, got a bike in front of me in the fast lane tailgating a car, he then starts to get a wobble on, I back off cos you never know how bad these wobbles will get, well his wobble got as bad as it could get and he came off, hmmm, probably best to just drive on by as my knowlege of first aid comes down to shoving as much cloth into an open wound as you can or get as much pressure on it as you can, but the dumb foks in the middle of the poxy fast lane and its 10.30pm on a Saturday night so you know most of the drivers are pissed up and he's gonna be killed cos he is just laying there, so I stopped trying to get my car in a position where it might give him a bit of a chance of not being run over, the girls got out and went to see how bad he was, some Aussie guy I think, parked his bike next to my car blocking off more of the road, by this time about 100 Thai owned cars had driven by and none of them had bothered to get involved, So I done the only thing I could do and started dragging the Thai guys bike to the edge of the road, the guy on the left in the picture started helping me, the 2 girls saw these 2 film stars and the injured Thai was left with the Aussie while they had their pictures taken, they got their priorities ![]() The video is of the injured Thai guy relaxing on the highway. |

| Senior Member | For the record how does it work here? I heard if you get involved helping an injured person after an accident, you can or will be responsible for his med bills and possibly even compo if he doesn't pull through. Don't know if it's a yarn, but for future reference can anyone throw some light on this? |

| The Dog | I think if you get them to hospital and they aint in any condition to sign themselves in and you sign them in then you could be liable, if he dies while your helping him you could be liable to a certain degree I think. Trouble is with this one the guy could have said I knocked him off the bike, and if I was by myself it would be my word against his, as no other witnesses bothered stopping, that wouldn't be a fun situation, not sure if the Aussie saw him go into a wobble or not. |

I know some farang paramedics who work in the hospitals. They never stop at the scene of accidents and help out, for this very reason. It's a tragic situation, but, it's just not worth the risk. The first rule of a firstaider is "Don't put yourself in danger".

| accident Worst accident I came upon: Lampang: Came up after the clean-up but noticed a pick-up sans roof and a brain on the ground...hadn't seen that before. Accident in: Cop motioned to stop traffic for U-turn, obeyed, struck from behind by over-crowded truck with poor brakes on slick a.m. roads. Ltd. damage, cop was p.o. at the driver. |

| accident 2 Driving in BKK when a motorcycle fishtailed and rider and side-saddle passenger crashed. Parked my car sideways on one way to stop traffic b/c no one moved to help. Guy got up to help his motorcycle up and allowed his passenger to lay on her backside. Both were fine, but bystanders seemed angrier at those of us that helped that anything else. |
