| Tuk to the Road Welcome to Tuk to the Road, the biggest thing on 3 wheels in 2006, in fact, of all time. The aim of the mission is to drive a Thai tuk tuk from Bangkok to Brighton overland, and raise £50, 000 for the mental health charity Mind. Many have called us crazy, but with your help we will not only succeed, but in doing so will raise both funds and awareness for a great cause. Please have a wallow in our site; find out who we are, why we are taking on such a challenge and how you can support us. Every pound and penny we raise goes directly to Mind, so your donations are what will make this mission worthwhile. Our online donations are handled by Just Giving and are totally secure. Thanks for your support - we really appreciate it. Without you it couldn't happen.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Dis-member | ^ Hmm. I had a look at their log and have to agree .... [quote] Its hard to describe how bad the roads are in Yunnan. They make Laos’ Rte 13 seem like the M25. Not only that but we have had to fight with literally hundreds of vast construction lorries, all of us after the narrow sliver of passable road on each stretch. [end quote] Seems they had calculated on using the new expressways but did not realise that 3 wheelers are not allowed on them.

| As a former high school teacher in Thailand who every day witnessed students being driven to school along main roads in ridiculously over-crowded song teaows, it was with great sadness I read today of an accident yesterday in rural Thailand. Sadnessed by the inevitability of such an accident as well as the tragic waste of young lives. 5 students killed and 15 seriously injured when a 10 wheeled truck ran up the arse of an obviously overloaded song teaow as it was u-turning to drop the students at the school on the other side of the road. The driver of the truck fled the scene. Of course. If this accident occured in Australia, or likely any western nation, it would be front page headlines sparking community outrage. I doubt it will be mentioned again here. A fucking disgrace. As Thaksin keeps telling us, Thailand is NOT a third world country. So when will they stop killing their children and take some responsibility for what happens on their roads? Without a doubt this is, to me, the most disappointing aspect of this country... |

| The Dog | Well yet another accident today, an uncaring Thai woman in her big SUV which she probably has no idea of how to drive runs over a motor cyclist who was waiting to drive across the intersection, she got out and obviously ignored the Thai guy laying in the road and looked at the damage to her nice shiny precious. ![]()

| The Dog | Well getting back on Topic here is one of a motorbike driver being hit by a lorry, this was on Sunday when I came back from Ayutthaya, the location was in Pattaya on Sukumvit Road just before the Soi Theprasit turn off, luckily he weren't dead and the lorry driver didn't do a runner. |

| I saw 2 accident aftermaths today. Both at night, both involving moto-cy's. One at traffic lights on Chao Fa East road - where bikes tend to creep past the lights when they are showing red, and one on Viset road which is now being widened and resurfaced. Viset road is now more like an airport runway - very wide, but without any road markings. I arrived as the ambulance was doing a U-turn and roaring off to the hospital or morgue. Had to drive past a big pool of blood in the road. The g/f wanted to stop and look, of course.
