With its gunner visible in the back cockpit, this Japanese dive bomber, smoke streaming from the cowling, is headed for destruction in the water below after being shot down near Truk, Japanese stronghold in the Carolines, by a Navy PB4Y on July 2, 1944. Lieutenant Commander William Janeshek, pilot of the American plane, said the gunner acted as though he was about to bail out and then suddenly sat down and was still in the plane when it hit the water and exploded.

There might be a very slight touch of magenta or mauve in the pic - don't be picky!

BTW,he's just finished re-releasing the last 3 remastered LZ albums: Presence, In Through the Out Door and Coda (completed after John Bonham's death and the band's breakup). This completes his re-releases of all of LZ's albums, which is interesting b/c it's been his life's work over the last few years and he has always ever been the band's only producer. Also, all re-releases are available in all three formats: vinyl, CD and digital. Most albums consist of multiple disks or LPs. My fav is Physical Graffiti.

That's such a moving image and the first time I have seen it for years. I recall 'interpreting' this image, just focusing on the child, for a drawing submitted for my O level art exam back in 1974. Must have been okay, I got an A.

Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible [at][at][at][at]... me.

You'd think, with all the money they undoubtably spent on this project, that the engineers would make an effort to get the landing gear right.

For the last two years, Scott has roamed the streets and freeways of LA in the middle of the night (typically between 2am and sunrise), to capture a view of Los Angeles most residents and visitors never see: empty streets and no cars.

^ Nice pic but I wish some would provide a little back story to the less obvious pics.
