Its not really a river, its Sřrvágsvatn Lake. If you plug "62.035,-7.224" into google maps it will show you exactly where.

The Thai wife and I departed Nan this morning at 4:20am and headed up to Pua for a quick 7 Eleven breakfast before driving east on the 1256 up the mountains into the Doi Phu Kha National Park. We arrived at the 1715 lookout right on 6:00am. 1715 refers to meters elevation, approx 5,620 feet in the old money. It was 14 degrees in Pua and with the lookout being almost 5,000 feet higher it was likely 2-4 degrees, and it felt it. Luckily there was no wind and little cloud and we enjoyed watching the sunrise. A thermos of strong home brewed coffee helped keep the cold at bay. A must-do Nan experience particularly in the cooler months when the sunrise is to the east and south of the high mountains immediately north and north east of the lookout.

Pleased you like it qwerty, I'm honoured. Here is my desktop. I'm unsure who took it (not wife nor I). It is a stormy sunset taken from O'Reillys Guesthouse in the Lamington National Park in Queensland Australia. That is Mt Lindsay in the distance. In many ways the mountains around here in northern Nan province remind me of the Border Ranges on the NSW/QLD border where I spent my teenage years.

    ^ No sheet.

Was up there last week and was shivering and had me teeth chattering driving me scooter in me T-shirt at around 11pm while on a pedigree chum run.

    Fookin' lovely it was.

One of the most famous lines in it is "I'm goin' to Wichita...". Even though the song title is Seven Nation Army, if you google "I'm goin' to Wichita song" you'll get it come up

Awesome shot mate and one of the few mountains I've not climbed.

The volcanic plug is decomposing granite (from memory) and climbing is banned.

I've never actually stayed at O'Reillys. Visited, but not stayed. I've told the story of Bernard O'Reilly and the wreck of the Stinson
to my Partner and will, when the boys are old enough, to them.

Met his relatives though and the Family run their winery just outside Canungra. https://oreillys.com.au/canungra-valley-vineyards/

A massive Heritage Home moved there from the Darling Downs.

But, just bla bla. Awesome photo of yours!

I sometimes go to events where homemade patė is offered with bits of toast. One time some wag bought some countryside rat without telling people until it was too late. I often thought of blended dog food might pass for patė !
