Fascinating stuff Misskit! Afraid I can't green you, not sure why.

Having a bit of an itch for all things mechanical I had to investigate more and see what is powering this thing.

The Great Elephant may amble across the park at a gentle three kilometers per hour, but inside he's a hive of activity -- propelled by a 450-horse power motor, 60 cylinders, 2,000-liters of oil, and a complex system of jacks, pulleys and gears.
A steel skeleton forms the base of the wooden body -- replete with wrinkles carved beneath the blinking eyes.
Read: Thought-powered bionic arm 'like something from space'
But the hydraulic beast isn't quite left to roam free, with an on-board driver steering him across the park, spraying onlookers with water from his rippling trunk.
I can't believe I'm gonna have to go back to France now. This park is amazing!

Wonder If There Will Be Any Starbucks?

Floating around the globe, drifting from country to country, never staying in one place long enough to get bored …
If you like travelling, life on the Freedom Ship, the world’s first floating city, sounds perfect.

There’s only a couple of hitches – it’s not built yet, and it’s going to look an awful lot like a multi-storey carpark when it is.

Its designers have released computer-generated photographs of what they hope the mile-long vessel will look like.

It would have enough room for 50,000 permanent residents within its 25 stories and boasts schools, hospitals, art galleries, shops, parks, an aquarium and a casino. It would even have its own airport on the roof, with a runway serving small private and commercial aircraft carrying up to 40 passengers each.

Intended to be a haven for tax dodgers. But I do wonder how it would stand up against storms with that shape.

In that case it'll be a roaring success, tax dodgers don't worry about handing over a portion of their excess wealth to stay legal.

I read about that guy, and the other amazing thing is that he drew it from one side to the other. He did not sketch a rough outline and then fill it in.

    Building The Hoover Dam

Hoover Dam penstocks and outlet pipes such as this one were fabricated from 45,000 tons of steel and welded into nearly three miles of pipe varying from 8.5-30ft (2.6-9m) in diameter.

In this peculiar photo we see what happens when water pours out of a pipe and instantly freeze as it is exposed to the cold air. The photo, submitted to reddit yesterday, shows the accidental beauty that nature is often capable of creating.
User NinjaViking, who took the photo, explains how it happened:
“A long period of rain, then temperature slowly falling to -7°C(19°F). Water in the pipe freezing from the outside in and expanding, thus extruding water through the hole which solidifies as fast as it is exposed.”

Without checking I call that bullshit. Water ice will never be as clear. It is a plastic rod, heated and stretched, then glued in place.

    But does look nice anyway.

To make the ice crystal clear like that he probably put a hair dryer on it for a few seconds. Not that hard to do really.
