Sorry to hear that.
Could be worse, wasn't there a poster with an 18 year old daughter whose hobby was bringing Korean men home to sleep there.

Bound to happen. You'll never have that little boy sitting on your lap giggling, or learning how to bait a hook, ever again. That's life. You just have to fall back on love and support, and understand that he's going through a hormone and peer-pressure roller-coaster. He'll get through it and eventually he'll be the new version of your son.
Thanks Maanaam.
I realise that we will get over it.
FFS... just escaped the chaos of family life in Korat for a relaxing four weeks offshore when my wife sends me this.
A 50/50 decision at best.
Problem is, you stop for an amber light and get rear-ended as everyone else is speeding up to get through. The number of times I've gone through on amber, checked the rear-view mirror, and see another four or five cars following me. Are they all getting tickets?
There must be a window of about 3 nano seconds between stopping early on amber and getting rear-ended and going through on amber/red and getting a ticket.
I guess what really pisses me off though... am I now driving like a Thai?
So how much were those fines ?
I usually get one a year, on average, and usually doing less than 10 k over the limit. The bastards here charge $ 185.
Recently I got one from Victoria for doing 122 in a 110 zone, and the pricks are hitting me up for $ 322....! That's 7,000 baht ! Hence my wanting to find someone who's carked it to take the rap

Think yourself lucky. In NZ fines start at 4kmh over. Quite controversial because people (rightly) claim it forces drivers to keep looking at the speedo rather than at the road, which is a significant safety risk.
Obviously idiots going 58 above deserve everything they get.
That's the junction at Terminal 21/Big C in Korat.
And here's the offending camera:
See I knew you were CSI...knew it
Fucking hell Nev
It's in spitting distance of one of my rhododendron bushes.
Sids been demoted, Nev is the new Inspector of TDCSI
How much damage would a shotgun do to that camera ?
Just catapult bird shit at it every day.
They'll soon get tired of cleaning it.
Wow! Neverna, that is truly amazing!
Wish you'd posted a picture of that camera three weeks ago, I would have been a bit more careful.
I don't remember that particular instance, but the camera is stamped 15:18 so I would have been returning home to Hua Thale after the school pick-up. Two kids on the back seat rabbiting on, and at that point I would have been looking to get into the left lane to avoid all the traffic turning right to the old bus station. Must have taken my eye off the lights.
Do you have a comprehensive library of red light cameras in Korat?
Not quite a moan, but it could develop into one.
In the last week I've seen 3 dead pigeons on the soi, and this morning an Indian Mynah.
Considering these 4 deaths all occurred within 7 days and in an area no bigger than 40m x 10m, I'm wondering if there is an epidemic about to erupt. The pigeon population on the soi has grown from nothing to about 20 in the last 4 years. They stick around the soi because an old lady always feeds them (despite her daughter asking her not to as they crap on everyone's balconies)
If I was in NZ, I'd report it to the appropriate authority, but I fear I'd be wasting my time with Hatyai Municipality health department. Bird flu? I wouldn't regret the pigeons being decimated, but I wouldn't want it to spread to people, plus there are other birds that are pleasant to have around.
