Sidewalk vendors gone from on Sukhumvit in the daytime but one still cannot walk unhindered past the Landmark Hotel because they have large pot plants obstructing the sidewalk.

    Get them gone as well!

Bit of a let down today, as posted much earlier on other threads, Father in law AKA the parasite, got into a spot of bother about a year ago, illegal logging.
So far cost him his life time government job, boss of 8 villages, one month in prison before he got bail and he ripped the wife, ergo me, for a big wad of money, trying to buy his way out.

His day, or 3 days in court came Tuesday, I came home after picking the kids up from school, fully expecting he would be absent, Ubon prison being his new home.
Not so, there he sat, I was not at all happy, there defense was, the soldiers were setting them up, they were going fishing, the ax and glock were normally carried and the felled tree/logs were not their's.

Touchy subject in our house after I dragged him out of the car one day, threatening to beat the shit out of him.

Anyway things looked up a bit as the night progressed, always know somethings up, in laws start talking quietly in jungle Lao.

Sentencing is on the 28th, fingers crossed he's gone, sure it was him who paid the guy to take the shot at me, Karma's a bitch.

JC how much did it cost ya? might have been better to bribe the judge for a long sentence, bear in mind even if he is sent down they can appeal on bail and drag it out for ever.

I must be living in the twight zone, heard some stupid ideas over the years, but today's idea takes the cake.
BIL and his wife live here sometimes, well most of the time, they have a new house in an estate in Krabi, but prefer the jungle.

Anyway, about 3 years ago they decide to build a house in the village, local witch doctor tells them, unlucky year for them to build, so BIL asks can he build a room/bedsit type attacked to our house.
Now our house looks a bit like a motel, large roofed open area with rooms coming off both sides, so say build what you want, which they do.

Now witch doctor throws some sticks or what ever, lucky time to build a new house, but old bedsit has to come down, bad luck may follow you across the road if you leave it standing.
These 2 are not village idiots, both Uni educated, both have new cars and unlimited money it would seem. but the shaman has spoken and for good luck the bedsit needs to be raised to the ground, including the concrete floor, nothing but the earth must remain.
All this must be done before any work starts on the new house, so as I write they are moving all the furniture out,

My wife thinks they are crazy, but she wants to use the space for other things and is happy to see it gone,

No idea how much the parasite has bleed the wife for, but they [4 loggers] as a group tried to bribe the judge,400,000 baht up front to the lawyer to make the deal, money never to be seen again, then the judge remanded them in custody.
Bail was give in another district court, as to appeals etc they cost and there isn't any cash left for him to borrow, beg or steal.
Bastard would sell one of my kids if he thought he could get away with it. The world revolves around a Thai male, they can do no wrong, lie, steal and cheat, it's OK as long as you don't get caught.

If its any consolation Jim, it works the same in my moo ban...as well you may not build onto an existing dwelling. This may be helpful in that it would stop your BIL from building an adjoining room to your current dwelling? Our Shaman wouldn't let that one pass lucky day or not.

Getting caught is is only punishable if there is another option...money to the punisher, land titles or a new boyfriend.

It's not that, the local jungle dwellers believe this crap, I pay out for chickens, pigs heads, Lao kow etc to keep the workers happy, jungle spirits, ghosts, magic trees etc.
His wife doesn't come from here, rich family in Krabi, not Thai rich, but western rich, millions of dollars, not Baht, BIL degree in political science, her degree in accountancy.
Money seems no real problem, trade up every year or so to new cars, as said keep a house in Krabi, have a second they rent out, believe she owns several shop houses in Krabi town.
Why would they buy into this local magic crap, is it so entrenched in the Thai physic that it overrides, not only commonsense, education, but Buddhism as well.
Could see it if they were saying they wanted the teak doors, windows etc for the new house, save some money, but everything has to go, even the concrete tiled floors have to be dug out.
At a guess, 300,000 to remove it all and leave a clean site, then have old and new site blessed by 10 monks.
Plus, they/we will have to build a new road to the back of our house, their new house is to go across the road, family land with a covered carport, 4 covered spaces for our cars.
Beyond me, so I'll have another beer, let them spend what they want, he'll run off with one of his girlfriends, she'll head back to mummy one day and we'll put chickens in the new house,TIT.

Surely you know the answer to that one? Peer pressure...Asians will not go against the tide...not so much belief as in intimidation by locals belief systems.

300K to tear down a house and remove it from existence? I'll being my BIL and crew by and do it for 150K anytime you like. The wood structure is a piece of cake, the concrete parts are more difficult with a sludge hammer. Best to get the local backhoe in for the concrete removal. 2 days work demo and 1 day clean-up.

Save the wood for future use or sell off...30,000 perhaps.

Hmm.Gotta agree with JC re Thai males:
Step son turned up at our house from Phuket leaving his ‘job?????’.Claims he lost his ID and driving license.Wife says since poor little boy is only nineteen needs mummy to sign docs for new ones in our locale.Ergo a couple of thousand baht donation by yours truly methinks. Probably top up his @#$%^&*() motorbike from my brush cutter gas ta-boot.
Bugger was fed, ate my chips, cashew nuts and a hand full of my candy and went to sleep at 9pm last night….11am and he is still sleeping.

One too many beers and one too many zeros, they'll just put a big tractor with blade through it.

crepitas had one of the wife's cousins [male] rock up once FIL/MIL side of the house, after a week he started complaining about the free food.

Another time, another cousin [female] with boyfriend came asking to stay, seems he was in some trouble with the law and wanted to lay low.
I said fine, have a spare room and he can start work at the factory, to pay his way.
Would think I had spat in this face, work, not an option, rather go back and wait for the police.
Thai males believe they are entitled to everything with out any return on their part.
Even the removing of the furniture from the bedsit was an all female job, FIL/BIL slept ate and watched.

O.D.'d on Thainess today. My mind snapped as two females pushed their way through the isle reserved for customer check out...I happened to be occupying the space at the time...before I could stop it, I went into WTF are you doing you stupid fuck'ing buffalo...next tryig to walk through the mall when blocked by 6 Thai youth doing their typical slow amble while checking out their sims or photos, I again erupted into Hey, wake the fuk up assholes, let the rest of the world share the sidewalk....wife by this time was in tears...Me, I'm feeling like whats wrong with these people?

I've decided that both Thailand and Thais are like a rudderless ship. all going in circles doing and accomplishing nothing of any value whatsoever.

Sadly I have to attend the wife's birthday party and put on a happy face for all the scroungers and freeloaders who will attend to consume all that I have provided. Not one redeeming quality in the bunch.

I'm a bit grumpy. I had a helluva day at work coupled with I am cutting back on my liquid "Pleasantly Anesthetized" evening process. Once a week is my limit now. Of course I might drink a 750 on that one day but at least I am holding true and only drinking once a week now.....

Funny. I opened a fine Scotch and only sniffed it and closed it up. How is that for discipline?
