I remember Loy Toy saying he could scribble a bit on here somewhere. Probably a bit intimidated to post them up here

Anyway, great artwork Nige, I have them as desktop backgrounds on my phone and laptop.

    Keep em coming mate

Aw thanks mate ^ and BTW ,,,, I very much doubt anyone would be intimidated to post alongside my old toot ,, I ( HOPE ) to encourage people to have a go ,, if only people would have a little dabble in a spare hour they have and stick it up on here it would be great. Its really not that difficult ,, believe me !

I am greatly encouraged by the amount of interest shown on this thread with a good amount of views and comments .

I am working in the first stages of an oil landscape at the moment , so I will take a few pics as I go along , then post them up at the end with the final result to show how its done ,,,,,,,,,( if I dont loose me rag and stick a brush through it ! ) ,, can be frustrating at times , but thats like a round of golf , your allways trying to do better
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Ok as promised the above mentioned painting in progress , this will give an idea as to how the finished picture gets up from the basic canvas .

My colours ( all artist grade )

    1. French Ultramarine . 2. Davy's Grey . 3. Raw Sienna . 4. Cadmium Yellow

    5. Raw Umber 6. Juanne 7. Titainium White .

Now I aint gonna put a pic of an empty white canvas looks like , so we skip to the next stage where something is happening ,, here I have covered the canvas in black gesso a week ago as I want a dark underpaint behind the picture . I have roughly sketched in with some thin paint the major parts of the pic .I have blocked in the sky / background area with a thin blend of white + french ultra / raw umber using a fan bristle brush , then removing most of it with a paper towel .

Again here I am just thinly building up my picture ,, nothing is fixed at this stage , with oils we can move em about for the next week ,, if really fed up we can gesso over the whole job and start again .

Working forward now on the closer trees and also chopping and changing colours on the little footbridge

Ok this is as far as I can go this week , I have run out of light , so will have to wait till next weekend to continue ,, a long way to go yet ,, I can see one big mistake staring me right in the kisser ,, it can and will be easilly corrected ,, any ideas any one ??

Please jump in with any ideas you might have , I have big shoulders ( trouble is the rest of it matches

Ok thanks for taking a look ,, will stick some more progress up next weekend when I can get back at it

You should set up a website to sell some of your work, you really seem to have a dab hand, you might as well make some money from your fine skills.

And here is something that I did actually do...

Inspired by the floods we had a here a few years ago, this is my second piece in a series of paintings (two) on the floods, 'Floodart' as I call it.

This one illustrates the inherent and on-going conflict between man and nature as man finds himself stuck in bloody traffic trying to get home.

The composition is weak. You are dividing the canvas vertically with the yellow ochre used for the bridge and the foliage. You should tone down the yellow ochre on the far bank.

    A bit harsh Humbert!

The guy is a self-professed amateur who has picked up stuff from books at his local library; I think the results are pretty damn good.

I can't draw or paint for shit, hell I can hardly even write nowadays if I don't have a keyboard so it's very nice to see someone sharing their skills and hobby with the forum imho.

Why is it harsh? He said he had big shoulders. If he doesnt want criticism he wouldn't have asked for comments. I have a degree in art and my area of intensification was painting and drawing so I'm not shooting from the hip.

I said it was BIT harsh. The guy has the balls to put his work up on the internet in a nice thread and ask for comments so constructive criticism is expected. You may have a degree in art but he has stated he is a truck driver and self-taught so it seems that criticism should be worded gently, your post just came across as a bit strong.

I'm probably reading too much into it so apologies all around and let's wait and see what the OP has to say.

Why are you being snarky in a thread like this? It's a guy posting up his own handiwork, he's not claiming to have an exhibition going on at the Tate FFS.
