| The Dog | Pattaya Thai noodle shop Again on Soi Theprasit but this time up by the Sukhumvit end of the road next door to the car wash there, this place is a bit more upmarket, yep my meal here cost 30baht, initially she said 40baht, but I think she forgot that I asked them to take out the chickens foot that they had put in there, honestly, I do not look like an Issan person so I have no idea why she would do that to me. The broth or gravy was good although a bit sweet for me, the vinegar soon got rid of the sweetness though, there was also 2 great big chunks of liver in there, I am sure she saw that I came on the bike and hadn't brought my dog with me so I have no idea what she expected me to do with them, 5baht dearer than yesterdays noodle soup but well worth it. The shop front itself. The cook in action. The waitress cleaning stuff with a piece of dirty old rag. The condiments, chilli powder, chilli in vinegar which is my favourite, and sugar. My chicken noodle soup. The broth or gravy bowl, I assume they boil the chicken bits in here to give it the flavour.

| The Dog | Banglamung Thai noodle shop Yesterday I had to take my car to Banglamung to have a dent filled due to some idiot backing into it while it was parked outside my place, both the insurance assessor and the body shop demanded to see my driving license, why the fok they would want to see a driving license I have no idea, when I asked them they also had no idea, anyway, once they finally got it into their thick skulls that one does not need a driving license to own a parked car, and also that the car was not in my name they gave up on that idea, pretty dumb some of the natives, also got them to respray my bumper aswell as I blamed the damage on that was done by the idiot who backed into my car Anyway Banglamung is about 8 kms from Jomtien, ie you go Jomtien, Pattaya, Naklua and then your there, poxy long way just to get a dent filled, so I decided whilst waiting to be picked up I would try some of the more local style noodle soup, as this is quite a way out of Pattaya it's only 20baht per bowl, but you got to remember the locals eat fat and gristle and don't mind the odd bone or insect in with their food, I was quite suprised as there was none of that sort of stuff, I think it is because it is opposite the CholChan hotel so they get lots of farangs who have turned their noses up in the past at stuff like that, all in all pretty damn good and a bargain price Outside of the noodle soup shop. A bbq catfish and chicken stall that was also outside, got to admit I was quite tempted by the chicken, the fish still had their heads and eyeballs though The noodle soup shop also sold fish paste sandwiches, probably the most disgusting thing one could ever wish to eat, not only is the bread the worst in the world I doubt if the fish paste contains any edible parts of fish in it Inside the noodle soup shop. My red pork noodle soup, pretty damn good for 20baht.

| The Dog | Pattaya Pad Kappow Okay I am now bored with noodle poxy soup, this place is on Soi Theprasit and also sells noodle bloody soup but I went for something different. The seating and a tv you can watch. The cooking area although she cooked my food outback for some reason, suppose she didn't want to chilli the place out so to speak. My rice with fried pork chilli and basil leaf, pretty damn good for 30baht, she did ask if I wanted and egg with it though.

| The Dog | Thepprasit noodle soup shop Thousands of noodle soup restaurants in Pattaya and Jomtien and I still haven't been to them all on Soi Theprasit, this one is quite nicely done out, some of them on this Soi I wouldn't even venture into, this is right at the end by Sukhumvit Road, there are about 6 of them together, and after about 2pm they all close for the day, yep they make enough money in the morning and lunch that they don't even bother opening for the evening, can't be bad when your selling stuff for less than a dollar a head Quality proper wooden tables, also you get the choice of bottled water which you have to pay for, or water out of that jug which is for free, never tried free water in a Thai restaurant before, but I assume it won't kill you otherwise they would be lacking in customers. My chicken noodle soup, bit watery but okay for 25baht.

| Now this one looks good A decent helping of meat in proportion to rice, most Thai restauarnts assume that you want 99% rice and miniscule helping of the good stuff. Got news for them, us farangs like our meat as much as any Thai girl likes farang meat. I don't mind paying for extra dead chicken or pig but gotta have my helping of meat. |

| The Dog | Pattaya Cheap Thai Restaurants Again on Soi Theprasit this place is next door to the elephant kraal and shooting range, so it's a bit noisy, not sure how much the elephants like the sound of guns going off but doubt if any thought was given to that. Anyway as you can see in this picture it is quite a nice sized open air type of restaurant. Concrete and wooden tables and chairs. My spicey pork with basil and rice, the meat was spread very thinly to make it look like a lot, it wasn't The kitchen. I never really liked these little stainless cups you get with ice for your water.

| The Dog | Thai pork restaurant in Pattaya Again on Soi Theprasit, this place is actually quite nice, proper plastic table cloths and not your normal floor lino on the tables, nicely painted walls, nice tiles on the floor, no cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, I can only assume she is married to a farang, ok the front doesn't look to special but would you bother doing out the front of an open fronted shophouse on a main road like this. Nice wooden tables and chairs, nice finger print free walls. Hmmmm, for 30baht it was ok, the green stuff I don't eat anyway and I only sometimes eat the yellow bit from eggs, the pork and rice was bland, I mean really bland, luckily it came with a bowl of that sweet chilli sauce so that sorted that little problem out.

| Thanks for this DD. These are are the places to eat if you want no nonsense value for money grub. I eat locally at a place that has at least 10 big bowls like in the pic above with different curries and similar. She also has lots of dried fish, salted fish and those bamboo whatever dishes, gaeng om. The husband stands outside and grills pork satay stix at 2.5 baht each served with peanut sauce and a chilli cucumber onion relish. He told me he does 1000 stix per day. The place hasn't changed in years. Fancy restaurants are fine, but for a fussy fukker like me who can't drink beer out of a thimble sized glass or straight from the bottle, they are more trouble than its worth.

| The Dog | I only eat a small amount during the day so usually just make myself a snack or 2, lately I can't be bothered so I have been trying out all the local Thai restaurants around my area, hell it would cost more in food if I just made a sandwich or a burger and then I got the hassle of making it and then the cleaning up. |

| The Dog | Pattaya Chicken and Rice Restaurant Well this is the last time I eat on Soi Thepprasit, from now on I shall try to travel into Pattaya City itself and try out the local Thai restaurants. This chicken and rice shop house is just opposite KR Karting, which even as i type is slowly being knocked down and turned into another housing estate, yep the Pattaya building boom continues. Not too bad is it, even got a couple of plants to make it look nice. They haven't spent a lot on furniture. Bowl of onion soup and a plate of chicken and rice all for 25baht, she left the skin on the chicken though
