Social media heavily criticized the Subdistrict Health Promoter director for drinking beer while drawing blood from an 83-year-old woman. Locals revealed he was heavily intoxicated, failed to perform successfully, causing the elderly chronic patient’s arm to swell and bruise. When asked, he responded irritably, displeased, and claimed it is normal to provide off-site services at a cost of 1,000 baht per hour. They call on the supervising agency to conduct a transparent investigation.

Online criticism escalated after images circulated showing a man holding a can of beer sitting beside an elderly patient during medical service. It was identified that he is the director of a Subdistrict Health Promoter (SHP) in Waritchaphum District, Sakon Nakhon Province, prompting calls for relevant authorities to urgently verify the facts.

Regarding this matter, on 16 June 2026, reporters visited Ban Phuwang Noi, Kham Bo Subdistrict, Waritchaphum District, Sakon Nakhon Province, and met Mrs. Praphai (surname withheld), 83 years old, suffering from multiple chronic illnesses including diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney impairment. She is the person shown in the online images. The reporter sought details about the incident.

Miss Sujitra, the patient’s granddaughter, revealed that the incident occurred on the morning of 8 June when the SHP director from nearby came to draw blood and measure her grandmother’s blood pressure as scheduled by the hospital. However, she noticed he brought a can of beer and appeared to be intoxicated.

The granddaughter claimed that during the procedure, the blood draws failed multiple times, causing swelling and bruising on her grandmother’s arm and hand. When relatives inquired about the cause, the official responded with displeasure and claimed that off-site services normally cost 1,000 baht per hour. He also said if they were unhappy, they could travel to the hospital themselves before leaving the house.

Meanwhile, a local resident who wished to remain anonymous stated that this medical personnel has worked in the area for over 4-5 years. There have been past issues with alcohol consumption. Although he had stopped for a period, recently he returned to heavy drinking, which is widely known in the community.

The resident added that people in the six villages are aware of this behavior and are concerned about the image of public health services and confidence in the official’s duties. They therefore want the supervising agency to conduct a transparent fact-finding investigation.

Initially, locals have called on the responsible agency—currently the Subdistrict Health Promoter is under the supervision of the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Administrative Organization—to urgently investigate the complaint and take administrative action if misconduct is found, to restore trust and ensure the safety of service recipients.

At the same time, reporters have attempted to contact relevant agencies, including the Sakon Nakhon Provincial Administrative Organization, for comments. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.

The reported theft and consumption of a celebrity pet dog has reignited debate in China over the country's dog meat trade, prompting renewed discussion about animal protection laws and shifting public attitudes over the practice.

According to local reports, a border collie named Chutou was stolen while its owner was overseas, before being sold to a dog meat restaurant in central China for about US$25 and later eaten.

The internet-famous canine had more than 1.5 million followers on Chinese social media.

Its owner has filed a police report and is seeking legal redress, but experts say pursuing the case could be challenging.

While China currently has no national law explicitly banning the consumption of dog meat, it has introduced some regulatory changes in recent years.

In 2020, dogs were removed from the country's livestock catalogue and reclassified as pets. Major cities including Shenzhen and Zhuhai have also banned the consumption of dogs and cats.

“The broader issue is that because there is no legal supply chain for dog meat, many dogs entering the trade come from theft,” said animal rights lawyer An Xiang from Beijing Dexiang Law Firm.

REHOMING DOGS

The case has also drawn attention to the work of animal welfare groups seeking to rescue dogs from the trade and rehome them.

On Jun 7, 11 dogs were transported from Yulin in southern China to an animal shelter in Beijing after being removed from a slaughterhouse linked to the dog meat trade.

Two of the canines did not survive the 30-hour journey.

The remaining nine dogs are now receiving care at the shelter, where they will undergo health checks, testing for infectious diseases and parasites, and treatment for existing medical conditions. The long-term goal is to prepare them for adoption.

One of the rescued dogs, Taishan, is estimated to be around two years old and is in particularly poor condition, suffering from mild eye discharge and severe skin disease.

It will need at least three months of rehabilitation before it can be put up for adoption.

“Right now, many of them are very afraid of people. Getting them out of their cages is difficult,” said Cao Jinwei, secretary-general of the Capital Animal Welfare Association, a non-governmental organisation that is helping to house the dogs at the shelter.

“Later on, because we hope to have them adopted, we'll work on modifying some of their behaviours. We have trainers who specialise in behavioural and socialisation work. They'll help the dogs become more comfortable around people.”

For the Humane World for Animals, another non-profit that worked with its local partner VShine to transport the dogs, the Yulin rescue operation represents more than just saving a handful of animals.

Members said they worked with the slaughterhouse owner to shut down the facility, with the owner agreeing to leave the dog meat trade altogether.

The organisation hopes the closure can serve as a model for similar efforts elsewhere in China as attitudes toward companion animals continue to evolve.

EVOLVING REGULATIONS

China is currently revising legislation to strengthen penalties for pet abandonment and abuse, amid renewed calls for tougher punishment for animal abusers.

Earlier this month, rare public protests broke out in the southwestern city of Chongqing after videos circulated on Chinese social media sites, purportedly showing a man abusing dogs on a balcony at night.

In terms of dog meat consumption in China, while there are no official national statistics tracking the issue, past reports suggest that consumption has declined in recent years.

At its peak in 2012, more than 10,000 canines were reportedly slaughtered annually for the controversial dog meat festival in Yulin. By 2015, that figure had fallen to around 2,000.

Animal welfare advocates say further legal reforms are needed.

“We do hope that fundamentally, the Chinese government can legislate a special act to outlaw dog and cat meat trade,” said Peter Li, China policy advisor at Humane World for Animals.

“Importantly, China has a huge community of pet lovers, so it is time for the Chinese government to outlaw the trade once and for all,” added Li, who is also an associate professor of East Asian politics at the University of Houston-Downtown.

An Xiang the lawyer concurred, saying he would “much rather live in an environment where no one abuses animals; where everyone agrees that such behaviour should be punished by law”.

“Once this view is shared by a certain proportion of society, it creates the foundation for legislation, then it’s up to policymakers to act on it,” he added.

Some Beijing residents told CNA that public attitudes towards eating dog meat have changed significantly. This comes as pet ownership in the country has been on the rise in recent years.

“It seems that people in Beijing used to eat it more often in the past, but now it's basically disappeared. Hardly anyone eats dog meat in Beijing,” said one resident.

Another said: “I have a dog myself, so I can't accept it. The little dogs and pets are part of our everyday lives.”

Authorities in Phang Nga have launched a sweeping crackdown on nominee businesses and foreign-owned enterprises operating illegally, in line with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s urgent policy to protect Thai economic interests.

Governor Phairat Phetchayuan, together with Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Chaikiat Wiriya[at]satikul led a multi-agency task force of more than 16 government units in coordinated raids across Takua Thung and Thai Mueang. The operation followed two months of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and evidence collection.

Investigators uncovered multiple violations, including unlicensed hotel operations and foreign nationals working without permits. Several offenders were arrested on-site, while authorities continue to probe financial records, shareholder structures, and business networks suspected of nominee arrangements. In Thai Mueang, officials also detained a foreign executive found working without a valid work permit, with further inquiries underway into connected enterprises.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Chaikiat said that the task force has been systematically building cases against nominee networks, leading to search and arrest warrants in this operation. He noted that additional investigations are ongoing, particularly into businesses exploiting legal loopholes to profit unfairly from Thailand’s economy.

The crackdown specifically targets companies using Thai nationals as proxy shareholders or disguising foreign ownership to bypass restrictions. Officials argue such practices distort fair competition, deprive local entrepreneurs of opportunities, and undermine Thai workers’ livelihoods.

Authorities revealed that 174 businesses in Phang Nga are under scrutiny for potential nominee activity, including 15 high-risk cases flagged for immediate investigation. The province pledged to intensify proactive enforcement, dismantle nominee networks at every level, and safeguard the tourism sector and broader economy for Thai citizens.

Late on the night of June 15th, 2026, a large number of homeless individuals had turned Pattaya Beach and Pattaya Second Road into makeshift sleeping areas, creating an eyesore in one of Thailand’s premier tourist destinations and raising concerns among local business operators.

A Pattaya News reporter who surveyed the area around 11:30 p.m. found dozens of homeless people scattered across Pattaya Beach and nearby roads and closed shops. Some were sleeping on public benches, while others had laid out mats or belongings along the shoreline to shield themselves.

Similar scenes happened on Pattaya Second Road, where groups of homeless people had claimed areas in front of closed shops as sleeping quarters. Some were observed drinking alcohol and possibly under the influence of illegal drugs. Some had accumulated various trash and other items, hurting the image of nearby areas.

Local business operators and residents told reporters that authorities had previously conducted crackdowns, rounding up homeless for screening, documentation, and official assistance programs on multiple occasions. However, many of those removed have since returned, once again occupying public spaces in large numbers.

Millions of Thais play the bi-weekly government lottery, but few realise that if they cannot prove ownership of a winning ticket, they could lose a fortune.

Failing to take simple precautions, like writing your name on the back of the ticket, leaves winners at risk of having their jackpot stolen – as Sayan Dokmai found to her cost recently.

Not-so-friendly neighbour

Sayan, a 54-year-old woman from Sukhothai, is a regular lottery buyer. Ahead of the June 1 draw, she ordered three tickets from a local vendor and picked them up on the day the numbers were drawn. Lacking the knowledge to check the results by smartphone, she turned to her trusted neighbour, Waeo, for help.

After checking the numbers online, Waeo hugged Sayan and told her that one of the tickets had won the 6-million-baht jackpot. She then suggested that Sayan leave the tickets with her overnight for safekeeping and promised to accompany her the following morning to claim the winnings.

However, the next day, Waeo and her husband Dej changed their story. They said they had checked the “winning” ticket and discovered it had missed the jackpot by just one digit. Waeo then refused to return the ticket, claiming she had thrown it in the trash.

Refusing to believe her neighbour’s story, Sayan returned to the lottery vendor to double-check. The vendor confirmed that one of Sayan’s tickets was indeed the jackpot winner, backing up the claim with a photograph of the receipt stubs. The vendor also remembered selling the same combination to Sayan.

Sayan immediately lodged a complaint at Sawankhalok Police Station, which summoned the suspects for questioning. After intense interrogation, Dej finally confessed to having stolen the winning ticket. However, he claimed to have burned the ticket to destroy evidence after panicking when the case went viral on social media.

The couple has since been charged with theft and destroying another person’s assets. They face heavy fines and significant prison time if convicted.

Sayan, meanwhile, faces the gruelling legal process of proving to the Government Lottery Office (GLO) that she is the rightful owner of the winning ticket, despite having no physical evidence to back her claim. If she wins the case, she will finally be allowed to collect the life-changing prize.

Saga of the 30-million-baht win

Though distressing, Sayan’s case pales in comparison to the battle over a 30-million-baht jackpot a decade ago.

In early November 2017, a 62-year-old retired police officer named Charoon Wimol redeemed his winning tickets and deposited the 30-million-baht jackpot in his bank account. Trouble began soon after, when a teacher, Preecha Kraikruan, claimed the winning tickets actually belonged to him.

Preecha took Charoon to court, claiming he had accidentally dropped the tickets at a local market and the retired policemen had picked them up.

Preecha’s claim was backed by his regular lottery vendors, who testified for him in court.

Charoon’s bank account was frozen as the bitter dispute dragged through the courts for years. Finally, in June 2022, the Supreme Court cleared Charoon of all charges and ruled that Preecha had no claim to the money.

With his name cleared, Charoon countersued Preecha for perjury and filing false charges. In early 2024, Preecha was found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison. The courts also handed down prison sentences to the colluding lottery vendors. The battle finally came to an end early this year, when Preecha was ordered to pay 1.7 million baht in damages to Charoon.

Advice for lottery buyers

To avoid similar disputes, the GLO and legal authorities advise lottery buyers to photograph both the front and back of their tickets as proof of purchase. They are also advised to write their name and phone number on the back of the ticket immediately after buying it. And if a ticket goes missing or is suspected stolen, buyers should file a police report right away and notify the GLO to freeze any payouts to unauthorised individuals.

In Yasothon, a mother-in-law fatally stabbed her son-in-law's head while he was lying in the middle of the house. He then fled desperately into a nearby forest and died. She admitted her anger was caused by him stealing her motorcycle to sell, and he was known for being drunk, violent, and abusive to his wife.

At 09:00 on 15 June 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Adul Suwarotwarakit, an investigator at Loeng Nok Tha Police Station, was notified of a fatal assault near a road close to Khok Sung village, Samakkhi subdistrict, Loeng Nok Tha district, Yasothon province. He coordinated with the duty doctor from Somdet Phra Yupharat Loeng Nok Tha Hospital and rescue personnel from Phra Mae Loeng Nok Tha to investigate the scene.

At the scene, the body of Mr. Sithisak Jaitam, 28, was found lying dead by the roadside leading into Khok Sung village. He was wearing only shorts without a shirt, lying in a pool of blood. His head and the back of his neck showed multiple wounds from a sharp weapon with heavy bleeding that caused his death. The perpetrator was none other than the victim’s mother-in-law, waiting for police at her home nearby. She was identified as Mrs. Suphaksorn Chomphuthep, 48.

Mrs. Suphaksorn, the suspect, revealed that she attacked her son-in-law with a machete because she was upset that he stole her motorcycle to sell and pawned her car. Additionally, he frequently became violent when drunk, abusing his wife regularly. She said she had long harbored resentment. The previous night, they had a heated argument which intensified her anger. After separating for the night, she saw him still asleep on the floor the next morning, lying on his side. In a fit of rage, she grabbed a machete lying in the house and repeatedly struck his head. He fled desperately from the house but collapsed and died shortly afterward a short distance away by the roadside.

Police then took Mrs. Suphaksorn Chomphuthep into custody along with the machete used in the attack for interrogation at Loeng Nok Tha Police Station. She was formally charged with intentional homicide and will face legal proceedings accordingly.

The death toll from a shooting following a dispute between a Border Patrol Police officer and motorcycle taxi drivers in Bangkok's Huai Khwang...

The death toll from a shooting following a dispute between a Border Patrol Police officer and motorcycle taxi drivers in Bangkok's Huai Khwang district early Sunday morning has risen to two.

The second victim died in hospital, police said today.

The officer, who allegedly opened fire on a group of motorcycle taxi drivers after an argument over a fare before fleeing the scene, has surrendered to police. He has also been officially suspended from duty pending the outcome of an investigation.

Police were alerted to the shooting near the entrance of Pracha Songkhro Soi 38 in Din Daeng district at about 2.50am on June 14.

According to witnesses, the incident began when a man dressed in a black long-sleeved shirt asked for a ride to the Makkasan area. The motorcycle taxi drivers at the stand reportedly quoted a fare of 120 baht, which the man considered excessive.

An argument ensued after the drivers advised him to take a taxi instead. The suspect then allegedly drew a handgun and fired several shots at the motorcycle taxi drivers.

One person was killed at the scene and two others were seriously injured.

Emergency medical personnel rushed the wounded men to hospital, where one later succumbed to his injuries, raising the death toll to two.

The gunman subsequently turned himself in at Makkasan Police Station, where he was identified as Pol. Snr. Sgt. Maj. Namthap, 33, attached to Border Patrol Police Subdivision 21.

Officers seized a 9mm Sig Sauer semi-automatic handgun and a magazine containing ammunition as evidence. The suspect reportedly admitted that he had argued with the motorcycle taxi drivers before opening fire.

In a statement, the Border Patrol Police Bureau said the officer was on personal leave at the time of the incident. It confirmed that he is now in police custody and is being detained at Huai Khwang Police Station pending legal proceedings.

The bureau said a disciplinary committee has been established to investigate the incident and that the officer has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the inquiry.

It pledged that the investigation would be conducted fairly, transparently and in accordance with the justice process, adding that further details would be released as they become available.

Humanity has officially passed a grim milestone: the first confirmed death at the hands of a fully-autonomous robot weapon.

In a remarkable interview with the New Scientist, a senior figure involved in the Ukrainian defence industry admitted that a fully autonomous drone deployed to the front lines of the Russo-Ukranian war has claimed human lives.

The event has been kept under wraps for two years, Ukrainian drone maker Alexander Kokhanovskyy said. The device itself was a quadcopter drone designed to zip to the front line, loiter around a perimeter for roughly 10 minutes, then launch into "terminator mode." This mode, the Ukranian drone expert explained, involves the use of an unidentified AI model to automatically seek out and attack human targets.

During the operation in question — which Kokhanovskyy likened to a "test" — the quadcopter was let loose by Ukranian soldiers, where it identified and ultimately attacked "a couple of [Russian] soldiers" and "one truck." The attack was confirmed afterward, by a human-piloted drone sent to scan the impact-zone.

"We just launch it and we know everything will be dead — everything that will be found there in this particular area will be dead," Kokhanovskyy told NewSci. "There is no connection to the drone at all, you cannot see the video, nothing… everything it sees will be killed."

While this marks the first known strike of its kind, it's fair to say the world's militaries have been inching toward this for a while. The Israeli Defence Forces, for example, have long deployed loitering suicide drones to hover over various demarcation zones across Palestine, though it's always been claimed that these drones relied on human operators to ultimately pull the trigger.

More recently, US military operatives used Anthropic's Claude to select bombing targets across Iran. Though officials argue that a human operator was in the loop, use of this system is nonetheless thought to have played a role in the brutal destruction of the Shajareh Tayyebeh girl's school, an attack which killed 168 children, teachers, and school staff.

Where we go from here is anybody's guess, but if Kokhanovskyy is to be believed, humanity has crossed a threshold that can never be uncrossed.

Police in Phuket have charged a British national after a viral video showed him allowing his nine-year-old son to sit on his lap and steer a moving car along a public road.

The incident, filmed by a passerby this week outside a property on Chao Fa West Road in Wichit, quickly spread across social media. The footage captured the boy controlling the wheel of a grey sedan, swerving erratically and braking suddenly, raising concerns for the safety of other road users.

Following the video’s circulation, the Wichit Police Station, ordered investigators to track down the driver. Officers later located the man, identified as Mr. Mark, 41, of British nationality, at his residence in Chalong. The sedan seen in the video was also found at the property.

During questioning, Mr. Mark admitted he was the person in the footage and confirmed he had allowed his son to steer the vehicle on the day in question. Police later impounded the car and filed charges.

Authorities stated that Mr. Grant faces prosecution for:

Driving without regard for the safety or convenience of others
Allowing an unlicensed person to operate his vehicle
Encouraging or permitting a child to behave inappropriately, potentially leading to misconduct

The charges fall under Thailand’s Road Traffic Act, Vehicle Act of 1979, and the Child Protection Act of 2003.

Police said that such behavior poses serious risks and will be met with strict enforcement to protect public safety.

A 51-year-old Thai motorcycle taxi driver was seriously assaulted by two foreign men, believed to be of Middle Eastern descent, in central Pattaya late Saturday night after he says he politely asked them to move their motorcycle, which was blocking a private entrance.

The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on June 13th, 2026, near the Tree Town entertainment area on Soi Buakhao.

Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched after receiving reports of a Thai man being attacked by foreigners. Upon arrival, they found the victim, Mr. Sumet Kaewduangsaeng, lying injured in the middle of the road.

Mr. Sumet, a resident of Saraburi province who works as a motorcycle taxi driver, suffered a swollen and bruised face, abrasions above his right eyebrow, and a deformed upper right leg. He received first aid at the scene and was rushed to Pattaya City Hospital for urgent treatment.

According to Mr. Sumet’s account, the two men, believed to be from the Middle East, had parked their motorcycle in a no-parking zone, obstructing the entrance to a private road. He says he approached them to politely ask them to move the vehicle.

Instead of complying, the men allegedly became angry. One of them immediately punched Mr. Sumet in the face, knocking him to the ground. As the pair attempted to flee, Mr. Sumet followed them to demand an explanation. One of the attackers then circled behind him, jumped on his back, placed him in a chokehold, and continued punching him repeatedly until he collapsed on the road.

Local Thai bystanders intervened to help the victim, causing the two foreigners to flee the scene.

Mr. Sumet said he plans to file an official complaint with Pattaya police once his injuries are treated, using video footage of the assault recorded by nearby witnesses as key evidence.

Police have not yet released statements on the identification or arrest of the suspects.

Effective tomorrow, Fisheries Department is imposing a fishing ban over a sizeable area of the Gulf of Thailand, in the seas off eight coastal provinces, to allow fish and other marine species to spawn and breed without disruption.

The fishing ban is divided into two periods, from June 15th to July 31st and from August 1st to September 30th. During the first period, the area affected by the ban covers the seas off Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhon, estimated at about 2,350 square kilometres.

During the second period, the area affected covers the seas off Samut Sakhon, Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Chachoengsao and Chon Buri, estimated at about 1,650 square kilometres.

The department said that the fishing ban in the Gulf of Thailand is imposed every year in the areas known to be spawning and breeding grounds, especially for mackerel.

Citing the catch records before and after the imposition of previous fishing bans, the department said that the average daily catch for a trawler before and after the first period of the ban is 1,500kg and 2,036.17kg respectively and 950kg and 1,451kg respectively for the second period.

The average size of the mackerel also grew, from 13cm before the ban to between 13 and 22cm after the ban.

Thitiporn Laoprasert, director-general of the Fisheries Department, said the imposition of the fishing bans in the Gulf is effective in increasing the population of many marine species.

The department has also regulated the types of fishing gear, the size of fishing vessels, the fishing methods and the mesh sizes for nets for fishing in the Gulf, to protect against over-fishing.

An American consultant and author of a memoir about Myanmar's 2021 coup is being detained in the country over a property dispute, a police source told AFP on Saturday.

Security consultancy founder Adam Castillo published a book recently detailing his work in the business community through Myanmar's military putsch, after which much of the foreign community quit the country.

Castillo, a former president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, said on his LinkedIn social media profile this week that he was concluding an international promotional book tour in Malaysia.

A Yangon police source said Castillo was detained as he returned to Myanmar on Thursday over a lawsuit brought by the current director of a business organisation he once headed.

It was not clear whether the organisation was the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, which could not be reached immediately for comment.

The police source, speaking anonymously because he was not authorised to share information, said Castillo was accused of breach of trust over a property, a crime punishable by up to a decade in prison.

"The current group director filed a lawsuit against him related to their organisation affairs," he said. "That's why he was detained at the airport."

A court remanded Castillo in custody on Friday for two weeks, he said.

A separate source with knowledge of the case, also speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed Castillo's detention but could not provide any further details.

A spokesman for the US State Department said they were "aware of reports regarding the detention of a US citizen" in Myanmar, but declined to comment further because of "privacy considerations".

A spokesman for Castillo's security firm AGS Myanmar declined to comment when contacted by phone.

Myanmar's 2021 military coup deposed elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who was detained, sparked an uprising of pro-democracy protests and tipped the country into civil war.

Some countries have since treated Myanmar's leaders as pariahs, enforcing wide-ranging trade controls.

Castillo's book is titled "Finding Our Voice: A Story of Leadership in Crisis and the American Spirit Abroad" and details his work in Myanmar.

That includes "confronting the White House on failed sanctions policy", according to a sales blurb.

"As diplomats fled, Castillo stayed, dodging bullets while evacuating employees and transforming a dying chamber of commerce into a thriving community," the blurb said.

Myanmar was ruled by a military junta for five years following the coup.

Military-run elections concluding this year were tightly controlled, excluding Suu Kyi's party and returning a walkover win for pro-military parliamentarians.

Coup leader Min Aung Hlaing was voted in as civilian president in a transition that many democracy watchdogs dismissed as a civilian rebranding of military rule.

Many analysts say the new administration has used the transition as a way to reform its reputation abroad.

A 34-year-old man strangled his wife to death inside their home in Nakhon Si Thammarat, claiming he lost control after being scolded. After the incident, he waited to surrender to police.

At 06:40 on 13 June 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Kamolsak Nakkaew, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Cha-uat Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat, received a report of a wife being assaulted fatally at a residence in Cha-uat Subdistrict, Cha-uat District.

The scene was a single-story concrete house. Inside the bedroom, the body of Ms. Kaltima, 34, was found lying on her back beside the bed, dressed in a white short-sleeved T-shirt and purple long pajama pants. Examination revealed no wounds except for bruising on her neck and shoulders. The doctor concluded the cause of death was asphyxiation.

At the house, Mr. Pornnarong, 34, homeowner and husband of the deceased, was present. He confessed to the authorities that his wife died due to his assault, having strangled her with his arm.

Initially, Mr. Pornnarong stated he had an argument with his wife, Ms. Kaltima, after she scolded him. This escalated to physical violence. In a fit of rage and momentary loss of control, he used his arm to strangle her until she became unresponsive. He claimed he was not aware of the severity of his actions or why he acted that way during the incident.

Authorities took Mr. Pornnarong for questioning at Cha-uat Police Station. Meanwhile, Ms. Kaltima’s body was sent for a detailed autopsy at Cha-uat Hospital, which later found that her neck bones were dislocated due to the forceful strangulation.

Neighbors told police that Mr. Pornnarong and Ms. Kaltima lived together normally, though occasional arguments occurred. Neither neighbors nor relatives expected the conflict to escalate to fatal domestic violence.

At this stage, investigators have charged Mr. Pornnarong with intentional homicide and detained him pending legal proceedings.

Further updates will be provided as the case develops.
