MOC Extend [T]AER to 5/12/2006

Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has just confirmed the AER (Thai-U.S. Treaty of Amity and Economic Relations ) extension for another 90 day period until Dec. 5, 2006. If anyone is experiencing difficulties, contact the Commercial Section (US Embassy) at 02-2055282

I was under the impression that Thailand's WTO membership would lead to the scrapping of this treaty.
What is keeping it going?

They're still negotiating a FTA (Free Trade Agreement). Until that is signed off, the AER will continue. Unfortunately, negotiations for the FTA are not going well, with both sides saying the other side is playing the game a little dirty
