Is it possible?

Is it possible if you go to Thailand on holiday and decide you want to stay and work there for a couple of years? Because we might be coming on holiday and just might end up wanting to stay longer and maybe buy a business or two. Obyiously we would want to do it all legally. Can everything be done and sorted out in Thailand? And what is the procedure in such a case?

Get a Tourist Visa in your home country, that will allow you 60 days stay.

If you decide to stay you can convert it to a non-imm visa in Bangkok
Conditions will apply

a lot of might and ifs in this OP...
anyway, you would be much better getting an appropriate visa in your own country before you left as it's a pain in the proverbial to change things once you're here...

Sorry Tets: didn't see you there...

I see now that South Africans do not need a holiday visa to go on holiday, so do I just apply for an extention until we are sure what we want to do?

don't enter into a business you are not sure of. if you are really planning on investing do your homework before you leave so that when in holiday there you know what to actually look for or confirm...

Nope, that is a bad way to do it.

Agree. Entry without visa not a good way to go.

Tourist Visa will give you 60 day stay. Believe it can be extended in Bangkok for 30 days.

Transit Visa, 30 days. 7 day extension.

Go here for more info.

They call it a transit visa on the link I gave. A new one on me. Not sure why they have such a thing given South Africans can now enter without visa.

" Transit Visa……………. : 200 Rand per entry, per person"

What I mean is that you do not need to apply for it before hand, you get it once you're there....

I might have got the info wrong and I am still reading up on how it all works before doing anything. That is why I am asking you guys...

Thanx for all the advice here!!!!

Typical Thai Embassy website. Never kept current.

They say entry without visa allows stay for 30 days. Hasn't this been changed to 15 days?

Very difficult to get a Non-Immigrant Business Visa with no paperwork.

Buying a business is a mug's game.

Build your own business up, don't buy failed businesses with extortionate key money from con-merchants like Sunbelt.

I'd say your chances of success are slim to almost guaranteed failure, given you don't even know the visa situation. Spend a lot of time here and learn the ropes before getting involved in business.

Nonsense. It's apiece of piss. Just need a letter and a copy of the company's registration certificate and Bob's your uncle.

Last time I checked a letter and company registration is paperwork.

You're a bit dim aren't you?
