Can you not just use Paypal's standard account to start with?

I already am but its not really that obvious that you can pay by credit card to some people, plus it looks a bit more professional and will hopefully increase sales offering credit card payment through the site.

Already got an SSL certificate and dedicated IP/hosting lined up, its just whether I can withdraw from Paypal WPP to a UK bank account thats not a business account.

People with experience of business loans

Ive got an idea to start working for myself, the stumbling block (as with most things) is the funding side.

Being an absolute novice at this and not really knowing when I can even make an appointment to speak to the knobs in the bank Im interested in hearing how a business loan/banking works for a small startup.

Im aware that they might not be all that hot on lending cash at the moment, Im just looking at all the options before I go and rob a bank or use the minimal amount of cash I have for something like this

Why can't you use paypal to offer credit card payments directly through the site?

You cant do it directly through the site unless you use Website Payments Pro. You can use a standard account but they get sent to the Paypal site to either sign up or pay and its not that obvious to people that you can use a credit card rather than a Paypal balance.

aha, yes its been a few years since I used it now, but I do remember it worked like that now.

Personally I would avoid paypal like the plague anyway.

    A necessary evil for me.

this is quite interesting regarding incorporating in the UK,

is there any min social tax or annual government fee or minimum government tax ? what about VAT ? do you need to be registered for VAT filling even if all you do is export ?
