    Protest in Bangkok

I have just seen on TV a falang ( think American) and a backing group, singing a pro Democracy folk type song in English at the ongoing rally .

    Is this illegal ?

I have always understood that Falangs are forbidden by law from being active in Thai politics .

How is singing in the street being involved in politics?

A farang can't run for office but singing in the street? Come on...

I saw an Aussie bird in a gold gown at a PAD rally on TV singing a song she composed lauding the glory of Him, in English.

I wonder if she is to the PAD what that White lad teacher-type standing at the gate is to his school.

Again it might be perceived by the Thai Police that she is trying to generate social unrest.

By the sounds of it , (and with regard to her performance) she may be also trying to incite a riot.

Absolutely out of bloody order !
And the silly buggers clapped ! ( well they waggled their Thai clapping things!)

Put you own analogy to it but, can you imagine the reception that a Thai would get if they appeared on BBC singing the praises of the Uk, the people, Mrs Betty Windsor ( gotta be careful - lese majest etc ) and the government, what would they get ?

Ok ! Ok ! A council flat in Hackney, free health care- jobseekers allowance etc etc etc -
Shit! I may have shot my own foot here

Imagine a mass of of Black men dressed in those African moo moo thingies on TV singing songs they'd written praising Obama Lama on FOX News.

Her song is simply horrible. The lyrics are the worst I've ever heard. God I'm glad she's not from my country.

    The times, they are a-changing!
Don't let it bother you too much, farang's do live in Thailand as well so why not have them on TV supporting the Thais.

According to the Bangkok Post the demo's are now a tourist attraction. "Tourists pose for photos after visiting the Government House on Sunday.//Wanchai Kraisornkhajit".

    Is this the backing group?.....

It always makes me laugh that these brain-amputated backpackers would go to an anti-democracy rally where the mob is violently nationalistic and feel part of a peaceful revolution.

I was at the PAD rally a few days ago when a young thai woman told me that she could not understand why she had seen so any farangs there.
She spoke english to me and was shocked when I answered her in Thai!
The woman who sang at the rally said that she loved Thailand and spoke Thai yet when she spoke on stage needed a translator!
If you love the king at least speak his language!

There is still a chance when they are whining and complaining to the "foriegn" press after one of them gets a knock on the head. Idiots the lot.

Any or many? I doubt the average Thai gives a shit anymore, unless it was that Jonas, the Swedish/Thai Yai country music singer.

She probably was wondering why she spent so much time learning a second language for you to answer her in Anuban Thai.

The most unusual of Thailand's "four languages" is the royal language, rachasap. Royalty uses special words for common actions and for parts of the body. This special, formal language is a mixture of words of Khmer, Pali and Sanskrit origin complemented by specially-coined Thai words. The Khmer-derived words are the same as those commonly spoken throughout Cambodia today.

    So...kiss my ass.

Quite frankly I think the average non-political farang's ability to perceive what's going down far exceeds that of the average Thai actively engaged in support of PAD.

Could be that we have higher expectations and are trained early on to recognise a rabid dog when it bites our ass.
