    You can open a UK offshore bank while based here. I did.

    Yes agreed
    I have an account offshore but it is not part of the BACS system so money has to be sent by Swift which costs 25 GBP every time you pay some money in.

    I sent my private pension, my Thai marriage certificate with a translation and they accepted it. No confirmation from Embassy needed and my private pension pays more than the state one.
