Public Holiday Friday AND Monday ?

My staff piped up and said that there is a holiday next monday as well as Friday this week. The official holiday charts show nothing about this.

Is it on MOnday? What's it for? Is it compulsory?

Buddha thing, give buckets of things for the monks, you'll see them in Tesco.s etc.
Schools are closed, think banks as well, nor sure if it's a general holiday or not. Jim

Have not heard yet, but not surprised.

Friday 11th - Asarha Bucha day (Public holiday)
Saturday 12th Buddist lent day (Public holiday)

I would think the monday is a make up for the Saturday (they quite often do that when the public holiday falls on a weekend)....

Monday is a substitute for the Saturday public holiday. Only Friday and Saturday will be dry days.

You don't have to buy one of those bucket thingos when you go to the tempen Jim.
They are available there to borrow for show (for a small donation) in a very practical example of "face" for those who only have an orange for their offering tray.

Not me going, our kids give the gifts, I get done double. Tomorrow schools go to their local Wat, give a bucket load.
Saturday our village Wat, I'm an employer here, if I can get anyone to work. got to show big face.
Same fireworks time, I always have to put on a bigger show, say to the wife, I have no face, nor a need to impress.
Small village, just the way it is, kids love it, wife's happy her father and mother are happy, I just get another beer.
Happy wife, happy life, does pay some dividends. Jim

    Yep....
At least dozens of these a year, though most aren't looked upon officially or observed in this capacity. Depends on the situation and community.

Ridiculous, perhaps, through foreign devil's eyes.

Don't need a planned reason to be festive here.
