| visa info I will be coming back to LOS this year for good I hope. I have a multiple entry visa non O good if used before 7/10/ 07 I am not sure yet when I can come back. If it is close to 7/10, how much time do I need to get a retirement visa? ( I am 65, and income about 80,000 baht a month.) If I have less than 2 weeks should I get another visa, and if so what kind? Also I thought I read that they would not let you in country with a one way ticket. Is this so ? Thanks, whittler

As for the rest of your query, I think I know, but I'll let someone who has actually done it give you better advice.

| I went the "O-A (Long stay)" visa route. You do all the paper-work in your home country after getting the form from your Thai embassy. You could come to Thailand and get your non-immigrant "O" visa changed to "Retirement" (I don't know the correct name), but I have no experience of that. I suggest you visit a Thai embassy in your home country and talk to them about the "O-A (Long stay)" visa. As well as completing the visa application form (3 copies + photographs), you'll need: 1. a medical certificate stating that you don't and never have suffered from: (1) Leprosy (2) Dangerous step of Tuberculosis (T.B.) (3) Filariasis (4) Drug addiction (5) Alcoholism (6) Third step of Syphilis 2. a police record (hopefully blank) 3. a bank satement showing the equivalent of 800,000 baht deposited (OR equivalent monthly pension income OR equivalent mixture of deposit and income) and a letter from the bank confirming that the statement is true. It took me 5 weeks from going to the embassy in London with the application form and documents, to arriving in Bangkok with the visa.

| If you arrive on 6/10 then you will be stamped in for 90 days. Your Permission to Stay will expire early Jan 2008 You can apply for a retirement extension anythime during the last 28 days of your Permision to Stay. |

| Oh Fuk | true, and as the visa takes a long time to process, they will give you extensions to stay until you get your proper visa I am not sure, but the problem with the 1 year visa is that every time you want to leave Thailand, you have to get an exit visa otherwise your visa becomes invalid. True still?

| ^ Retirement extension is usually done on the spot. Other extensions do take longer You still need to get a re-entry permit if you want to leave thailand or your extension will be cancelled. A re-entry permit took 20 mins last time I applied. |

A "multiple entry" visa enables you to come and go at any time during it's validity period. It's like having a visa PLUS "multiple re-entry permit" combined. My original "O-A" visa was single entry, so after arriving at Bkk I immediately bought a multiple re-entry permit at soi Suan Phlu immigration. (A waste of money though as I only used it once. Should've bought a normal, single re-entry permit
