Koh Samet is an island with shallow corals, so great for open water divers who want leisurely diving but it is not suited for anything more. It's not very deep and the visibility is between 5 and 10m. It's ok for a weekend break away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. It's worth trying if you happen to be in the area, but if planning serious diving choose Pattaya or Koh Chang.
Average dive site for a night dive. Don't bother with this one during the day - it's rubbish.

There's a small coral island chain off the eastern side of Koh Samet where there is shallow diving for open water divers.

Some nice corals and pufferfish to be seen here and lots and lots of starfish on night dives.

Fluorescent multi-colour ferns and coral at 22m deep. Watch out for coneshells. Bring your camera as there is lots of colourful stuff down here.

Strong drift currents are found here and occasional black tips are spotted. Probably the best dive site on the island.

When the visibility is good this one is a little treat. It's a granite rock which is 5m deep on one side and about 11m on the other side maximum. Lots of stingrays about so no Steve Irwin wannabes please. Pufferfish and barracuda about as is the occasional shark and dolphin in November time.
