Thread: What's your water pressure?

For those that don't have gravity feed for the water that supplies their house, but, use a pump........how many bar is your water pressure set at?

approx. 2.0

I am not sure it is changeable on my pump

A 1 bar mains can push water up 10 metres, 3 bar up 30 metres

Modern water systems require good pressure – typically at least 2.0 bar and preferably 3.0 bar for best performance.
Meanwhile, water companies are reducing guaranteed mains pressure to as little as 0.7 to 1.0 bar to meet Government requirements to reduce mains leakage.

These two factors mean that the need for boosted supply is no longer restricted to high-rise buildings and nowadays is often essential even for houses.

Yep and you won't burn or freeze when some fucker turns the taps on in the kitchen

I think pumps are originally set for an output of 2.2 bar approximately,but you can adjust them.

In our factory we achieve about 6 bar pressure on our bum guns which seems to keep everyone happy.

Also works for the machines which is of secondary importance.

I hate it when I stay in a hotel with high water pressure in Thailand. It's great for showering, but I've nearly ripped my balls and ringpiece off with high-pressure bum guns on many an occasion. Word to the wise, when staying in hotels always check bum gun velocity BEFORE squirting it at your starfish.

we adjust ours to a lesser pressure using the tap on the inlet pipe

if anyone needs an enema, then the tap can be turned to full

I want to know if I can adjust the pump? I know it probably depends on the model so I'll take a look when I get home.

I had a new pump installed and they have set it at 3.0 bar, cutting out at 4.0 bar.
The pressure seems excessive (especially the bum-guns).

I'm worried about the pvc water-pipes springing a leak.

No. Where the pipe exit the wall there is often a small tap. It can be partially closed to reduce the pressure.

If you haven't got one then it'll just be down to your poor water pressure.

Partially closing of a tap on the inlet will not reduce the pressure,
It will reduce the flowrate of the water.

^ Which will in turn reduce the pressure of the water existing the bum gun.

Take the top off and you can adjust the screw on the top. Screw in whichever direction compresses the spring. Probably clockwise but some vary. About 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time. Remember what you are doing so you can go back to original if you need to. You won't get much but you can get a little more

Cheers Neil, that worked. Just a half turn did the trick.

3/4 of a turn made my eyes squint so I turned it down a little.

Talked to a few people that should know and the common consensus seems to be 3.0 bar.

here in patts, because the area is old, all the supply pipes are old they keep the pressure down to save on leaks. on the ground floor, one tap at a time only, shower too week to switch the heater on, and i'm at the low end of the estate, there are a few two story places up the top, often wonder what there lifes like. i know mine is shite.

Get some bleach mate. Should take care of the "green shit."
