Modern Thai House Build

I admit this is only modern to Thailand as they have been doing it for years in America and Australia, never really caught on in London for houses as us English like nice heavy bricks and cement too much, although just before I left the UK I think Wimpy were rushing up wooden frame houses and selling them at extortionate sums, but who wants wood with all these insects and termites here in Thailand....

Anyway it's just down the road from my land, ie Jomtien, much nicer looking than the normal wooden shack squat dwellings you get out in the sticks with corrugated roofs with piles of Lao Khao bottles outside.

Concrete footings and posts, floor is supported by steel work.



Steel work framing and insulated.



PVC window frames, all the cladding is fiber board and floor some man made stuff, ie nothing for the insects to eat.



As with anywhere in Thailand is the Soi Dog problem, hopefully they will make a nice gate to finish it all off.

Did you get to take a look inside? Looks like the type of thing I would be interesting in building as guest quarters on our land and to use it as a base while the main house was under construction.

Only from the outside, there was no workers there both times so it might have looked like I was trying to nick stuff, it looked quite nice from the outside, although I would have put up drywall/plaster board on the inside, but that of course would have taken more steel work.

They have some small shed sized models in our local homepro, these look real good.

I quite like it, I was thinking of a nice little wooden house by my pond, but the fire risk, the insect problems, the yearly upkeep of the wood seems a lot of hassle, this sort of thing you give it a good hosing down once per year and thats it, sounds good to me

Nobody is living there yet; wait for a month or two and the rubbish will be more visible.

^Naa, the village headman is pretty good, he don't like rubbish and that, the area he is in charge of is quite nice, plus he owns a lot of land there so he doesn't want it devalued by rubbish dumps etc, even the Thai shacks are quite nice in the area.

half a meter,500mm, would cost pennies, and would look nice, split level type thing, well maybe you want concrete boxes that look the same, up to you

If you have any idea about how much it can cost, please tell us.
Very good idea ! A lot better than wooden houses soon eaten by termites and other insects.
I still don't understand why people build wooden houses nowadays...
