    Hot water heat-pump: first experience

Unfortunately I had to replace my solar hot water system because of malfunction, leaking tank and lack of support of the local salesman.

A simpler solar hot water system (like from Solarhart) is prohibited in our resort because of aesthetical regulations and I didn't want a simple electric heater.

So the only option left, was a air/water heat-pump, some kind of «indirect» use of solar energy.

two months ago, I bought a household heat-pump from Energy Master with a 250 litres tank.

The installation was quick and simple. The only modification was the installation of a drainage pipe for the condensing water.

The heat-pump is running now for 2 months without any problem. The claimed energy efficiency seems to be correct.

The costs with installation are about THB 150'000.

I don't care about the outlay recover. My aim is to use as less as energy as possible. Because the solar system didn't work, I had to heat every day for about 8 hours (1 kW heater = 8 kWh). The heat pump runs at 700 W for about 2-3 hours a day (= 1.4-2.1 kWh).
