Rebuilding the well

How deep do you reckon you can sink a well using 100 cm concrete rings?

We have 10 x 80 rings at the moment, some of which are damaged.

The idea is to take them all out, fit 100cm rings as deep as possible. We'll seal the top half and, in theory, only be getting water from the depths. There's a rice paddy next to us and we don't want the water from the paddy soaking into the well.

It's going to be tough sealing several concrete sections. Won't be long until seepage starts.

Why not a bore hole? No seepage. Cost might be less than fussing about with concrete.

Thought about that. Thing is the little bloke with the cute dwarf daughter, who cleaned the well last year quoted us around 10,000bht to replace to 80cm rings and go 2-3 deeper.

To get a bore done up here would cost a lot more. That's if you can get someone to do it.

Your point about sealing the top half is valid. We need to investigate further.

Does his profession of well-cleaner result from his small physical size? Does his daughter clean boreholes?

Just interested. My well was constructed some years ago by a local family where everyone from kids to old gran were involved in the construction. Experts at it - but no dwarfs

if the rings are sealed carefully, very little seepage would occur

even if it did, the amount would be very small compared to the total amount used

as long as you don't want it for drinking, then no problem
