Hi,

i just buy a land in Prachuap, and i ask price to build a wall all around, the land is 100M by 20M ( 2000 meter square ), the wall will be 1,80 high, the constructor ask 170 000 baths. if i can have some opinion with the price.....thanks a lot.

It's a fair price, 700baht per meter length.

ok thanks, yes i need to do all because the land is 200 M from the beach so the earth is mix with sand, so i want to close all before the earthwork. That s what a good Thai freind who have a house there told me to do.... i have to say that i know nothink about construction so i m so happy to find this forum, i ll have a lot to ask....i m planing to build a wood house and fews bungalows.

Mate, your going to do very well and an excellent time to be investing in Pratchup as long as your prepared to lose it all if you get ripped of on the deal.

But if you don't Pratchup will boom in the coming years as it really is a stunning little area and a sleepy back water.

I'm in Cambodia so can't be sure of the exact prices in Thailand but that sounds way too cheap to me, especially if I understand you correctly and you're planning to back fill the plot and you're on sandy soil.

The builder will need to dig footings for reinforced concrete columns, then he will need to add one possibly two (depending on the height of the fill) reinforced concrete beams at the base all the way around.

The steel alone on a plot that size will cost more than the price he's quoted you, which makes me suspect that he's not planning to do it that way. If he's planning on just digging a hole, dropping a prefabricated concrete fence posts into the ground then pouring some concrete into the hole, it will start leaning not long after you fill and will eventually fall over.

It's a standard price in Thailand, rebar is cheap here, probably export it to Cambodia.

If the builder is planning to do it the correct way with reinforced steel columns and beams then great, that's an absolutely amazing price wherever you are in the world!

But to be on the safe side I would still double check the technique he's planning to use and make sure the builder know that the plan is to back fill at a later date.

That's a wall I built last year for 630 baht per met and it ran some 420 lineal meters. Wern't cheap but the missus appreciates the security.

Thanks for sharing the link Boon Mee, that's exactly the type of wall you need sidartha, although from what I've seen you may need more than one horizontal beam depending on the height of the fill.

Boon Mee's post just confirms my suspicions about the price, he paid 630b per meter for labour then around 800b per meter for materials. Reading back the original post it wasn't clear whether the price was labour, or labour + materials.

I just checked my spreadsheet from when we did our wall, it worked out to $39 (1180 baht) a meter for labour and materials. That was for a a 2.2 meter high wall with 3.2 meter spacing between columns and rendered on both sides.

The 630 baht per meter was labor only. I lost track of exactly what-all the material came to as I was still working away and the missus didn't keep real exact records (mai pen drai) but it was roughly ~24K USD total with the gate & lights / electric run entire length etc.

You can't complain about the price- you might have some complaints about the workmanship- do a bit of research and be on-site when they start to pour.

Finishing 70 mtrs by 2 mtrs, renderded on both sides, comeing in at 2000 baht per linial mtr....140000 baht. Did it our selves day labour plus materials....

It seems you are talking 240 mtrs.....

prices you paid are between 1000 to 1500 bths/mtrs, i saw the wall around my freind house and it look like the one yu made Boon Me, and price include steel and labour. Now the guy will do the earthwork also, and we are making plan for the house and bungalows, so normaly he ll do all work, so my freind ask him to give a good price to my Thai wife ( of course the constructor never saw me....).
And the town is Khlong wan , small town after Pratchuap , there s not many project over there, so i think they are happy to work...

[at] Terry57, yes this place will boom in 3/5 years i think, all land on the beach are all sold, and it s not easy to find just 1 rai for sale, people want to sale lots of 10 rai minimum.....but for now i found my little paradise.

Fek looking nice. In fact, I only rendered the section along the soi. The other three sides face the Naa and one neighbor who's let his property return to the jungle. Who cares if some chawnaa don't like my rough cement look.
