    Storage Shed and Parking Area

Got the pond put in and landscaping done so now on to building a shop area and covered parking area. Am thinking we will build a 4X4 meter covered area adjacent to a 4X4 meter enclosed storage area that just has a roller door and one entry door. On the far end of this, we will put a bathroom and adjacent shower room. Big overhang out the front where the roller door would be and where the vehicle would enter.

I've got the idea sketched up but before going further with a formal plan I thought I would ask if anyone has built anything similar as it seems to be a common thing to want first before building a house. Anyone "been there-done that?"

Thailazer, looking to do the same thing on my building plot too and will be the living/storage area for the workers and building materials once I start the house build next January. Can you post some pics of your design and building area to give me a better idea of what you are planning? I want to enclose an area and add a shower/toilet that will then be tuned into a sala next to car parking once the house is complete.
If anybody out there has some good design ideas or actual structures built, your help would be much appreciate.

Rick.... Will do once I decide how things will look. Right now its looking like a 4 by 4 meter carport with a 3 meter by 4 meter storage room attached to the left of it. On the left of the storage area are three small rooms on the end of the building: Bathroom, shower room, and small closet which might be used for the water pump. Just have hand drawn sketches right now that I've drawn while having a brew. One thing I am considering is capping it with concrete to allow a second story for storage or more usable space. If the concrete planks come in 5 meter lenghts, might go that route.

As to layout, the carport will be a bit behind and to the left of the house as you drive up. That keeps the car close to the house and the septic system for the bathroom far away from the well.

4m x 4m will probably be too small, get the tape measure out and see how long your car is.

The car port I use now is about 6x9 and it is a better size for two cars and a pool table. I will probably make something similar, but still have another 6x6 enclosed area next to the carport for the shower, toilet and storage. I have plenty of room and maybe thailazer is building within a smaller area.

As is this one. A separate structure to left of house and set back a bit. Still building but pic will give you idea. Storage room on left.

Looks good so far Norton. I will probably go a little bigger since I plan to make the area an outside living space, pool table, bar and overall entertainment area. I stilll want to use it initially as living quarters for the workers along with a shower, toilet and storage area for building materials. It will make the transformation to a sala after the house is built.

Well, you are right! I measured our old carport which I "thought" was 4 by 4, but it is actually 4 by 6.

Norton: Thanks for posting that. Looks very similar to what we need. Any idea on how much it will end up costing?

Hard to say. Is part of build of 460 sq meter house.
A guess would be around 160,000 baht. Store room enclosed with sealed concrete floor. Roofing tiles, CPAC Monier. Carpark area open with pebble stone concrete floor matching driveway.

It really looks good, and the price sounds about right. Amazing how overbuilt structures in Thailand are. Your upper cross beams look strong enough for a bridge!
