    A beginners Build in Thailand

Well folks here it is the opening of a beginners build in Thailand. With all the encouragement and prodding I'm attempting this thread and going to utilize "photobucket," for my photo downloads per instructions and my personal reluctance.

    History of this decision:

We purchase this piece of land over a year ago almost two. 4 Rai in a small Moo Ban in Northern Thailand named Ban Doi or Mountain home. We are approximately 20 kilometers south from Chiang Saen and 45 kilometers north east from Chiang Rai. As is the case for most of us who choose to live here with our Thai wife/partners we seem to end up living in or near her family and place of birth.

We lived in Phuket for 9 years and have a house there that we had built in the area known as Ratchada. Near Tesco Lotus, Central and all the rest. As is our case Phuket began to drag on us years ago with its popularity for tourism and the onslaught of builders and developers. so we began in earnest two or three years ago searching out new destinations and possible life changes. I won't bore you with all the trips searches and disappointments, but finally we found our place and haven't looked back since.

    Chronology:

I will attempt to take you from the first stage of our land discovery through its clearing on to its leveling and pre-move efforts. We were fortunate to find and purchase a property that already had a local Thai house on it. We live in it as we write. More later in photos.

    Photos:

I will try and keep them to those that follow the chronology of the build. If I mess up and have to retrace my foot prints give me some slack. so now folks I'm going to offer this up and then save it online and then open my photobucket account and download some very first photos as I stated. It may not be perfect but I'm trying.

Bring it on; everyone loves a poll, but everyone loves a build thread even more...

Brilliant stuff Itnt. Well done for taking the plunge! As one of the 'prodders' may I be the first to wish you luck.

From what you have already posted elsewhere it seems you have the building of the house under control, so perhaps the luck is best directed at you mastering the dark arts of Photobucket and the building of this thread instead...

Looking forward to see how things develop.

^^ There you go, you've now got myself and Betty, the two idiots who are building houses whilst not even being in Thailand, eagerly signed up already.

Boring day in the office Betty?

Leaving Phuket I can easily understand, but going so far from the sea is weird :-)

Itnt, I've put something up in the 'How to use TD' bit of the forum (Newbies section I think) which I hope explains it a bit more.

    Here's a link: https://teakdoor.com/how-to-use-stuff...ml#post2634595

    Good luck

I've done what you say to do Dill but to no avail. My air card is sensitive and I loose connection sign in, but I keep trying and it doesn't work. Keeps asking for the URL which I've clearly clicked on but its not recognized on the TD site.

Try uploading then. If not using photobucket follow these steps.

    1) Take picture
    2) download to computer
    3) resize to 1 MB or less ( important this...won't upload otherwise )
    4) Enter Teak Door and click on ' gallery '
    5) click on blue bar where it says ' create/order my albums.' ( not anywhere else)
    6) click on New and type in name of album you want to store pictures in
    7) click ' apply modifications ' ( you now have a waiting album to fill
8 ) now hold mouse over the little blue house to the left of the top blue bar
    9) choices appear....click on upload file
    10) click on the first browse ( of ten ) , locate the picture you want to upload from your computer files
    11) repeat untill you have uploaded 10 resized pictures
    12 )click on continue
13 )now load each picture by selecting album
    14) click continue
    15) you have finished . Hold mouse over house again and select ' my gallery ' to view your pictures.

    16) to load them onto your thread click on one , then click on it again to enlarge it . Now its just a straightforward copy and paste job.

Good luck with the build and sifting through the advice. Ignore all suggestions containing the word pink.

^. Good lord. That looks just like the house I'm building at the moment.

If you didn't want to keep it I could have saved myself a lot of bother and just bought it off you...!

Well done for getting the pics sorted out. Looking forward to seeing more.
