Building a house based on free houseplans

Hello guys, i have followed this forum some time and find it very usefully. I have buyes some land in Korat wher wifes family live and want to built a 2 storey house and looked into the free thai house plans. The price estimates is not updated for years, what building cost should be expected in 2015 prices? I just register and not able to post any links yet..

What should i estimate as building cost?

Hi Pink: Price varies with the location and the quality of materials; so it's difficult to say. In Chiang Mai, where I built, it would be close to double what the 2011 prices were. In the sticks and with lower grade materials, not too bad, I would guess.

12,000 minimum to 25 or 30,000 per sqm for a 'farang standard' build, but obviously it all depends on quality of construction and materials.

I should add that with free house plans you get what you pay for. Look at the two pig ugly houses posted here by DD for prime examples.

Not enough info to give any any good meaningful advice, Google is your friend.

One universal advice would be to avoid German overpriced stuff, can get same quality at 15% of the price from China and suppliers closer if things don't work out.

Hope you all the best with your project.
