Yes...Home Pro etc do paper ( to order ) but no paste. However, I found a shop nearby that sells wallpaper ( to order again ) and they had paste and luckily I've still got enough left to do about 12 more rolls. Failing that I suppose you could get a couple of male elephants around and er....be nice to them. Should be good for several rolls and only costs bananas

Hanging paper here can be tricky in the hot season because the water in the paste evaporates while you work from one end of the roll to the other. Consequently, you have to damp paste the wall first then work on the roll in a frenzy before everything dries.

Ah ha...you should have said. No worries with a home visit then and I'll even tie a ribbon around the tree for her.

( Note to self....do not come to the door in the buff....look at the paper first and then if theres nothing I fancy, get my kit off later .)

Whatever happened to the wallpaper that had glue on one side, you just pulled it through a tray of water and stuck it straight on the wall?

Glue is a pain in the butt.

Thanks Humbert. I'll try to check it out on the weekend. I've found a couple of places locally that supply it and have catalogues but again, you have to choose then order it which takes a week to ten days.

here it could be interesting; unless you get a paste that is treated the bugs will eat the paper. In the wet season, large areas may well start to fall off the wall due to the humidity

Yes, I used to go for the all ' Barleywhite ' look but I got fed up with it and wanted to break it up with the odd papered pannel ...thus:




Its been up 4 years now and never had a problem with bugs or peeling. As I mentioned before the trick is to damp paste both the wall and the paper to ensure you get no dry patches.

Actually, I don't want to paper the whole room just a section. One roll gives you 4 drops and thats enough for my purpose.

I might have seen some at Home Pro too.

Yes , paid 950 baht for the roll shown above. However, it is very good quality.

I looked into this last week by checking out the prices on B&Q's ( U.K . DIY chain ) website and was surprised how expensive paper is there too. Although its possible to get cheap stuff for around 6 pounds a roll , the better quality can be 20 pounds plus.

Home Pro has nice paper but the wait is 7 - 10 days. I thought there might be a warehouse somewhere in BKK from where they order it. Maybe not it seems.

my misses was a sucker for the sales in the uk she picked up 6 rolls reduced from £12 a roll at a £1 a roll and she hung it herself wish i could show you some photos got to get the hang of it.

I think most of the wallpaper available here is imported. Most of it comes from the US and Europe.

This turned out to be true. The place I got it last time no longer sells it and everyone else in the DIY shops was giving me silly advice. One bloke suggested super glue !! Yea, right mate . Thanks for that. So I had some sent from the U.K. but that never arrived.

Eventually, at a big store up the road where all the local builders go I spied this stuff :




which is pretty well as near as you're gonna get here. Its water based so you can put in about a fifth part of water and away you go. One bottle will do about 2 - 3 lengths and it cost 30 baht ( or thereabouts ).
Even better, if you're getting your paper from Home Pro, make sure to order some paste with the paper.

The net result gives a nice effect and breaks up the plain painted walls a bit even if you're not doing the whole room. Have to say, I've never had paper go mouldy on me yet or start falling off the wall. If you do the job properly no reason why it shouldn't last.
