I need at least 10 sets of heavy duty barn door type hinges.
If anybody knows of a source I'd be most grateful.

Rustic Wrought Iron Strap Door Hinges for Home Renovators
This site sells them online and the cheaper ones seem to be at the bottom of the page.
Or whip the pictures off it and bring them to someone who makes gates and stuff in Thailand...plenty of them around ...and ask them to copy the pictures.
Or maybe find out where they get the little spikes for the tops of the gates. In egypt I saw a guy make a mould and pour a brass pattern in ten minutes to show me he could do the idea I was looking for. They used a sand mould and it cost practically nothin.
How much were you hoping to pay for them?
Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, 'Where have I gone wrong?' Then a voice says to me, 'This is going to take more than one night.
Not too much cos we'll need at lease 32.Originally Posted by acudlipp
Many thanks for that.
Any Truck repair shop have heavy duty hinges for the tailgate on Trucks
Now that is a good idea. Cheers, mate.Originally Posted by Ratchaburi
Get a blacksmith type to make em.
We don't seem to have one of them around here.Originally Posted by cambtek
If the doors are particularly heavy, make sure you place two hinges about 100 mm apart at the top of the door, then one centre and one bottom. I hung doors at the Brisbane Convention Centre about 12 years ago. Pairs of Acoustic doors, 100 mm thick 3 mtrs high each leaf 1.5 mtr wide. Used 4 hinges as above, and they are still swinging ok.
Really heavy buggers !
Sounds sensible Happy.
Thanks for that.
Old truck leaf springs make excellent hinges. Just get a Smithy to knock them up.
Well this isn't going well.
We've not only failed to find a supplier of heavy duty barn door type hinges, we've also failed to find a smithy who could make 'em.
If any one out there has a source for such things I'll happily pay a mark up on the cost of them plus freight.
We're now looking for about 26 all together.

Send me a picture of what you want and I'll get a quote for you.
Can either buy standard hinges and weld some straps on or fabricate with some half inch tube & rod
Cheers Thety.
I'll look for some pics.
Rough Forged Iron Strap Door Hinge With Bean Design
Something like this one. about 12" long hinge plate bit about 4" x 2".
All the frames are made of 4x2.
Probably need about 30 all together but I'll confirm that.
They'd need to be stuck on a bus or what ever to us here in Wiang Kaen 57310
Having said that the postal service works well with EMS. Not expensive
Cheers mate.

That doesn't look very strong.
Would be better (cost & strength wise) to just add a 12" strap to a standard hinge
Sounds good.Originally Posted by Thetyim
Start with a mild steel hinge like this one and add one strap to each hinge.
I assume you want the straps on the outside
Just realised that the one shown in your picture is a security risk.
The hinge screws are revealed, just unscrew them and the door comes off.
Go for dummy straps (see email I sent you)

You might find something here.
Don't know why it didn't come up as a link though.
