    good post TC except this last sentence. It is true but not all marbles and granites fit the typical pattern

    there are granite worktops that are almost pure black, and marble ones that have no pattern at all etc

    Agreed Dr. A.

    I tried to summarise my post with the most visually recognisable differences between granite and marble but there is definitely, as you point out, an overlap.

    In trying to be specific, describing a vague subject matter, I have probably added some more confusion!!!

    in fact, the definition of a granite and a marble are quite specific; it is mainly only confusing to the untrained eye, as I am sure you know
