How does one weld or glue together the plastic PVC material for making a pond liner?
For a large fish pond I assume there will be many seams. Is there a special procedure or is it something that is simple to do? I don't have a clue. John

i don't have a glue either . plastics on a car or motor bike use oxy--acetelyn with a plastic rod to melt in but have only seen it done on small items.
folding the edges into each other and using glue and an industrial stapler might work.
my guess is that it will have to be put together in a work-shop.
in one of the big cities.
might save a lot of hassle if you just have it concreted.
The seams are usually thermobonded together, using a hot air machine. There are lots of companies do this, Google Geotextiles, pond liners.
The suitable glue is a yellowish color and called 'Gow Rawn'. The PVC supplier should be able to sell you some, however if it's a big job buy a large tin (around 1k). Make sure there's a decent overlap and do the gluing on a flat surface like a concrete slab.
There's a really good thread ob pond building here https://teakdoor.com/building-in-thai...ds-a-pond.html
I bought some of this in Tesco.
It is labelled Vinyl Cement
Does vinyl and pvc use the same solvent ?
You will need a few packets to do a pond but it was cheap enough.
If the PVC is similar to PVC pipe then use the glue that the plumbers use for the pipe!!
The local plumbing supply should have some???
Just my $0.02 worth.

Just to clarify. I am not thinking of making my own fish pond liner, however, I do want to know what is going on, correct or not, when dealing with a contractor, buying supplies, paying out money. I might try my hand at making my own liner on a small pond some day.
For all information so far, thanks a lot. I appreciate it. John
From what you've described, it seems you're talking about a heavy plastic/pvc/visquewn liner of about 10mm thick. When I was in the tile business and made shower pans over wood floors I would lay in the heavy plastic/pvc and weld the corners with a special glue similar to pvc glue but it was called welding cement. Then a very dry mix of sand & cement spread over the pvc and tamped in to make a very solid base for tile that wouldn't leak.
I've never done it over hear so can't tell you where to get it although 10mm pvc/plastic/visqueen should be available somewhere. The outside pressure from the concrete (hardpack) keeps the corners tight.....if the pool you're making is round then of course there's a different approach to all the above....
you can also apply over concrete a good quality thinset that will waterproof the surface while fixing tiles....
