Looked at doing a bar myself as project for the gaff.
Priced up the materials, tools and man hours (was gonna do it on my own).
As you guessed it was cheaper to make my own plans and let Somchai and the gang knock one up for me.
Jandajoy seems to have got the ballpark figure.
Anyways. I f**ked the bar off and bought another sofa to fill the space being the lazy sod I am!
Any chance of posting pics if you get it off the ground?
Remember to add stools/shelving etc etc (if needed) to the final price.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

I would guess that JJ is in the ballpark. I have had bars in several houses over the years, and have always found them to be pretty much of a waste of space. I rarely used them, as I prefer to go out to socialize. Depends, of course, on where you are living. I had a big bar (kind of like what you are looking at) in my house in India, and it got a lot of use at darts nights and the like - but there was fuck all to do in India outside of people's houses. Before making the investment, give some real thought to how much use it will get.

Good advice. Have had a few bars in house myself and they usually end up being a place seldom used and a pain in the butt to clean.

Same goes for swimming pools. A hole in the ground one throws money into.

^^Too true with pools. I was toying with putting in a medium size pool at the house we built last year. Plenty of room, so I started drawing up the plans. Wife showed up, looked over shoulder for a minute and left. Came in a few hours later, and dumped a photo of an Olympic size pool on the table. Advised me that it was about a three minute walk from the house (idiot understood), cost $1 a day to use as we are residents of the sub-division, and that the upkeep costs are not on us. (idiot understood). Now have a very nice large garden with lots of trees, plants, etc.
