    Old wood shingles

Does anyone know how much the old wood shingle cost to buy and how many roughly in a square meter.

Not after the new shingles, only the old recycled ones.

Also what is best to put under them for waterproofing ?

I have seen metal sheet, both flat and corrugated. Also seen something like marine ply and then a layer of silver sheet over the top. Something that works and is relatively cheap.

    Thanks

we were quoted B10 each, and you need a lot! can't remember the figures now but it was an expensive way to go, but they look great

Underneath you can use rolls of roofing felt (if available in Thailand) or any equivalent. These get laid crossways (across the beams), the first at the roof edge and subsequent above and overlapping. This keeps the water out if any small leaks

what you mention could be used too, but more difficult and expensive. The silver stuff is prob for insulation rather than waterproofing, but may help if it has no tears
    I have reported your post

Was quoted 15 baht each and 50 per square meter the other day. Ridiculous.

Going near some isolated wood stores soon so will check there.

Think I might be using thatch.

A builder did quote a figure of 4 or 5 baht each and I believe this should be the correct price myself.
