I haven't posted since coming back to LOS the end of August. The outside has all the teak siding up and inside, the walls all have teak except for one bedroom, which may have teak in a few weeks but we decided to postpone it until the teak under the eves and the patio ceiling are done. I really don't want to spend another 50,000-60,000 baht to buy teak for one bedroom. I am putting a teak ceiling in the main living area upstairs but will, for now, put office type tile ceilings up in the upstairs bedrooms. All in all, the project has gone well, with a date around the end of the year to finish, hopefully. Instead of costing me 2,500,000 baht, it will cost around 3,500,000 baht, mainly due to misunderstandings on teak costs and what would be included in contractor's bid (I supply all materials and usually pick quality materials). I added the teak ceiling upstais but have not really changed anything else. I will post pictures on finishing and have plenty of pictures. The only downside is breaking my arm on visiting in July (it necesitated my coming in August to take the health care and surgery done in Bangkok instead of the states becasue of costs and no insurance). It turns out that an MRI showed a dislocated shoulder (how could 3 thai doctors miss it while I was a patient for two days in July?) and ligament damage which will require surgery in October (they have to wait 3 months to let the bone heal completelly before putting the bone back in socket) and then 2 months of rehab in Thailand. One question I had was; I am going to build a wall around the 1.5 rai lot and was quoted a price of 400 baht a meter for a wall about 8-9 feet tall. Is that a reasonable amount to pay?
