Yes.....i am astounded me good self.

While it did not work perfectly, I put this down to one of 2 things....either crap design....or in my rush to try it successfully yesterday, i did not fire it for long enough, therefore did not get temps high enough and possibly the floor of the oven was not hot enough.

However it still cooked it, but it took longer than I have read it should take.

Some people maybe coming for dinner on thursday night, I have promised mud pizzas for them. it will be tricky cooking several in it one after the other and keeping the temp up high all the while.
I like poisoning my neighbours dogs till they die cos I'm a cnut

You might need a Teak Door on the front to keep the temp even.

Nawty you will need to have a separate fire going so that when you pull one pizza out you use a shovel and place glowing coals at the back of the oven this should then keep it nice and hot. Did you "close the door" while cooking the pizza? Also did you have the fire burning at the front of the oven before you cooked the pizza if you did then I would have thought the "floor" would have been hot enough.

It has impressed me enough that I'm gonna have a crack at making one, who knows you could be the person who got rid of all the termite mounds in Thailand.

    Love ya work

Started the fire at the front, then moved it to the middle where the pizza is in the pic....then after an hour moved it to the rear.

Yes closed the door, have a wooden door for the front.....also some clay plugs for the vents in the roof, so can close as many as required to keep heat in and some air flow.

Good idea re seperate fire to keep the coals coming....sometimes the obvious needs to be stated.

That looks great - mark that experiment up as a success I think. Learned a lot from this thread - thanks. I have already been instructed to build one ASAP.

the bread oven belonging to my neighbour in Portugal fell down this winter, so they built another, very similar to the one you have built

she told me that it takes several firings to get the oven working correctly, so keep using it Nawty
