I set myself some difficult tasks, How to make fitting a door sound interesting?
Foked if I know.
OK first you got to decide if it's an inward or outward opening door, this is like a couple of months before you fit the doors, yep, that's when the old door frame has to go in.
Now a door frame cost's about 500baht so you know the foking thing is made from crappy old bent wood, so that's not really a good start.
Anyway first things first offer up the door to the frame, see how far the door and the frame are to each other, if it's a lot then cut the hinge side first, ok I admit 8 times out of 10 this is not needed, then shove the door against where it will be hinged and do a pencil line on the lock side so they know where to cut, now check the thing actually fits into the frame, so far so good?
Hinges? Normally the Thais will use 3 or 4, 4inch hinges, me I like using 4 3 and a half inch hinges, they don't stick out like a sore thumb, and don't go for those poxy fake brass ones as they will look like shite in 6 months, get the stainless beasties.
OK, the door is up and now you need a lock, again go for the stainless ones as the chrome and brass ones look like shite after a few months, here's a nice picture of a lock being fitted.
