    Upstairs farang style toilet

I am just trying to get an idea for the cost of an upstairs farang style toilet. The house is a concrete bottom wooden top section affair as seen in all villages in Thailand. Currently there is a thai style toilet outside.

The area of thailand is nakon pathom area. Any ideas how much a local builder would charge, inc materials and labour, for a farang style toilet to be put in upstairs. Doesn't matter if it is a flush or a stick a bucket of water in it. It just needs to be western style and the deposit needs to disappear to wherever away from the house.

From two other people that have been quoted toilet prices one reckons 3000 and the other reckons 5000 baht, but both of these quotes were for a downstairs toilet.

    Thanks in advance

They also build a camp stool type thing with a folding aluminum pipe frame and a canvas seat with a toilet seat on it and it sets over the squatter or a bucket and with a little water in the bucket, you could set it up by your bed and then when thru, just fold it up and sling the stuff in the bucket out the window, that is very economical and no need for extra resources to build it.
    Just a thought.

whats the matter with an outside bog? many old houses in uk used to have an outside loo, and bugger knows how they could sit out there in the dead of winter on a cold loo seat. seems you have the better option there. at least the stink of eating all that spicy thai food won't flood the inside of the house.

i'm sure it was built outside for a reason, or the thai's would of had it inside. maybe you could build an extention, so your outside loo will turn into a downstairs loo, provided it was close to the side of the house

its only my opinion. i dont live in thailand

I was in the same situation. We built a bathroom with a shower and hot water, flush toilet and sink. The walls are fully tilled as is the floor. We had the lumber from a mango tree that was cut last year, that is not included in the cost. Did not get a contractor, just had one of the locals, who had worked in Bangkok doing construction, to do the work along with pa in law. Spent about 20,000 baht on materials and about 9,000 on labor. Wish you luck.

Don't don't, I just read that and it nearly killed me...I can just imagine it in the next village from me, where they like to build there homes so close together...it would probably land on next doors' stereo! Priceless!!
