I've just cleared a very tenacious blocked drain myself, but it took several days. First, avoid soda fai....too strong and can damage the seals on the pipes. Also, what doesn't dissolve can solidify into a lump and make things worse. You can get this brown liquid drain clearer in a white plastic bottle for about 65 - 80 baht. I forget the name of it. Poor it down the drain and stand back. It makes an impressive gurgling noise then all the pipework gets VERY hot. However, in my case, this just loosened the blockage. Next, for about 150 - 250 baht in Home Pro you can but a length of coiled steel wire wrapped up in a blue bobbin with a handle on it. Go to the outlet of the kitchen drain and start feeding this flexible steel cable up the pipe. When you feel you are meeting a bit of resistance, start slowly turning the handle and pushing forward gently. this should be burrowing into whatever is causing the blockage. Then pull the cable out and see what you have caught. In my case a broken sausage shaped length of fat and detritous was pulled out. I had to repeat this many times in conjunction with the acid going down the other end until I finaly cleared it. I reckon I spent about 600 baht on it and it was a real pain in the arse. At one stage I had actually fed the cable up the pipe for a length of 7 metres and I could hear it working its way up the pipe to the first floor bathroom. All in all.....[at][at][at][at] of a job.
