    house plans

    hi folks, is there any good web sites for house building in thailand that will show house plans and pics of finished house,or is it better to make your own plans??,thanks.

    I think it is better to make your own, once you have got some ideas of what you want

    use an architect too, they often spot silly problems before you build!

    In addition, remember you are in Thailand, a lot of houses in those sites are totally unsuitable for the tropics. think about where the sun is, try to make sure you face away from it with few windows to the South

    have larger overhangs on your roof, for shade and shelter

    insulate any house against the heat as much as possible, have as much through draft potential as you can

    also remember, a great deal of your living will be OUTSIDE, so have large verandahs or sitting areas

    Design it for your lifestyle and for the tropics

    definately agree there, however, it all depend on budget,location, personality, etc

    What type of house did you have in mind? And where; Karon beach? Material costs have risen substantially in the past few years so you should try to source the material yourself, if possible.

    hi there, not sure what kind of house,just in the first stages of looking but nothing too big, my girlfriend is from - ban moo mon, just outside udonthani about six miles,and has land there,her visa is up next year so starting to look now,cheers.
