Construction in Thailand Is building in Thailand as bad as it seems? Can properties really be built and fitted out to European standards? Would you like to Build your own house in Phuket, or a swimming pool in Bangkok? Solar water heating in Pattaya? Or maybe you want to build a resort or guesthouse on Koh Samui? If you want to build a luxury house in Thailand then this is the forum for you.

Earth was cut off

Hi

I am presently in the house of the BiL in Bohol, Philippines.

That house had a proper earth rod, a three wire cabling and european stlyle wall outlets with earth connectors.

But some time ago someone from the power company came to the house and cut the earth off. When the wife inqured why and if it is not dangerous they said it is not necessary because their neutral is properly grounded.

If the husband had been there he might have been able to stop them but I am no sure about that.
And of course nobody bothered to at least connect ground to neutral in the distribution box. I have done that now.

But the situation is crazy. We are installing an aircon that requires grounding. The installer wants a circuit breaker installed that disconnects both hot wire and neutral. OK I did that. But in parallel I run the ground wire that is connected to the neutral.

I think we will secretly install a new ground connection.

Any advice?

If it wasn't for the fact they breed like rabbits, Asians would've been made extinct by their own stupidity ages ago.

Thanks

Will do that, but maybe delay it until after the planned new connection to the grid has been made.

Think you should fix it now. Drive a earth stake near your house electrical box and simply run a wire to the box earth terminal from the ground stake.
