| Earth was cut off Hi I am presently in the house of the BiL in Bohol, Philippines. That house had a proper earth rod, a three wire cabling and european stlyle wall outlets with earth connectors. But some time ago someone from the power company came to the house and cut the earth off. When the wife inqured why and if it is not dangerous they said it is not necessary because their neutral is properly grounded. If the husband had been there he might have been able to stop them but I am no sure about that. And of course nobody bothered to at least connect ground to neutral in the distribution box. I have done that now. But the situation is crazy. We are installing an aircon that requires grounding. The installer wants a circuit breaker installed that disconnects both hot wire and neutral. OK I did that. But in parallel I run the ground wire that is connected to the neutral. I think we will secretly install a new ground connection. Any advice? |
