Here is a little known welding technique...



its called the '3 point' welding technique.....my guys had mastered it and I could watch them gracefully apply their skills with ease..



The jungle swallows up my car as we collect rocks on the river bank..

Is the welder like, family.

No not family....if it was I would have been allowed to yell at him.

Actually that weld is a work of art and should be considered a collectors item mate.

You may not have to live off the land after all you can just rig up a Ripleys sign out on the main road............Come and see the world's worst weld!

Mate don't let the kids or missus walk under that EVER.

I learnt yesterday that Thai workers should be observed doing their job all the time......and not by another thai.

We had the dudes doing the electric extension put the cable underground from the shed, under the road and over to where the Bungalow Games begin near the water pump and tank.

Asked them how far they put it down.....they said half a meter....i thought ok should be enough as I shall mark its location.

I was putting in some plants, small plants, only needed to put the crow bar in about 3 to 4 inches and wiggle from side to side for the hole and drop each plant in.

I hit the cable at 3 inches and got a shock.

Lucky to be alive me is.......steel crow bar makes connection with underground cable......hmmm.....lucky I had my work boots on....

Thats the second time i have been hit by electric and survived.....third time unlucky perhaps....

I learned that 20 years ago mate but having said that if you get a good team they can be over careful which at the end of the day costs you more money.

I have never been able to find a happy "good enough" medium with this lot as it is either too deep or not deep enough.

Common sense is lacking in this country big style.

Wellllll.....being a sucker for punishment, we start ;The Bungalow Games' on sunday, 4 workers coming down to attempt a legacy, a build project to be remembered for all the wrong reasons.......

These workers said 'yes we can do it'.....but we need someone to tell us how !!!

So, I shall be their guiding light over the next 2 months.

The worrying thing is they will be left alone every second day......surely they could not fuck things up in just one day.....right ??

I have seen Thai's fuck up perfectly good things in 2 minutes mate.

Really, and based upon what I have seen and you have posted this building team of yours is not really acceptable even by Thai standards.

You really need a good supervisor on the job otherwise not only will the job look shite but the construction WILL be dangerous. I know one who is presently in Pitsanalok but he is not cheap!

I'd happily recommend my KK builders mate, they're reasonably priced too. Problem is, they're booked solid for the next two months and a bit.
Believe it or not, they've even turned down jobs from Thai's recently- who have a habit of running out of money when the jobs half complete.

LT....interested to know how much a good farang recommended guy costs though.

This bungalow is a cheap build, currently at 250k plus labour.....trying to get it down to 200k plus labour. So an expensive supervisor would blow that away.

Plus doubt anyone with some common social skills would want to live at Survivor Plantation.

Surely shirley as soon as you say surely in thailand you should know you're fucked! ...

We ate road kill for dinner last night.

We also have a vacancy for a dozen or so egg laying chickens.

Local dogs got in and its a slaughterhouse in there, picture chainsaw massacre at Rancho El Nawtio.

Revenge has been dealt out though, poison baits left in the decaying caracses of the dead.

Dropped of the building crew onsite yesterday, picked them up in Bkk and thought they might buck a bit about the accomodations and bathing facilities at the Plantation.

Then I saw their current digs and the Plantation is certainly 5 star in comparison.

Tomorrow lesson 1 begins......Welding.
