If there's fish in the pond they'll eat the mozzies. I wouldn't be worried about building near it.

Only worry about mozzies in stagnant water, where no fish etc live and they can breed.

However....depends on other vegetaion in the area as well, if it has thick dark jungle like areas, these could be the daytime hiding areas for swarms of blood suckers and then you will be in twouble.

Planting loads of lemon grass helps, mozzies hate going near it.

And Nawty is right, we have a 7 rai pond that we raised fish and there has always been fish in it and no heavy forested areas around and we had no problem with mosquito's

No inlet and no outlet, therefore a Pond is just a body of still water with no circulation and no flow.
but with fish you will have no sketers either.

Bet about 1 or two gallons of 40 weight motor oil (laid conservatively on said pond's surface) would control your skeeter population.

Factoid: I work with an ex-Exxon hand who towed the damaged Exxon Valdez from AK to San Diego. He knew a few of the key players, too....

Good straight forward advice. The fish stocking does help....

We live on a running stream/ lake and have very little problem with Mozzies!

The first thing that people ask, and when they visit me is with regard to this very same OP topic and I just tell them that the problem here is no worse than anywhere else in Thailand.

Yes there are mosquitos but far more snakes! Better to be truthful and then there will be no complaints.

Yep Fuzzy and the verandah across the way (next to the pool) is where I go fishing most mornings.

The wife, gardener and sometimes guards get their fair share of fresh fish most mornings.

    Very relaxing indeed!

By the way what do you think about my cocky!
