Parquet Flooring

Now this is only suitable for aircon places as wood always feels warm and who wants to feel warm here?

Parquet is easy to do, yep even the novice can do this, this stuff in the picture is triple a grade, ie the best, it still has slight size differences but these will be hidden after the sanding down, so what to do first?

Well first you need to fit 10mm ply wood down on the original floor, this has to be screwed down so there is no movement or flexing, depending on how uneven the floor is depends on how many fixings you need, this floor here was allover the place and we had to do fixings every 30cms, at your doors you have to use a solid length of wood of 10 cm wide as this is where most damage will occur from normal everyday use.

This picture was taken today so I will add to this as we progress over the next couple of days, here we can see the pieces of parquet being glued into place using ordinary wood glue, now this was the most expensive wood, yep even more expensive than teak, the teak was 700baht per sq met to buy and this stuff 900baht per sq met, "mai malaka"? well something like that, the next exciting installment to this thread will be the sanding down pics things dont get better than this.

Hmm, Marmers, this is actually a music room so the concrete walls were a bit too hard for good sound, my idea was wood panelled walls and carpeted floor, this was agreed, so up the wood panelled walls went, then the customer decided he wanted wooden flooring aswell, it actually looks quite nice...

Well I haven't got any pictures today but things are progressing at a rapid pace for some reason,this is quite unusual, the floors all sanded, the walls all stained,skirting is fitted aswell as the dado rail and coving,Tomorrow the matt lacquer should all be up on the walls and the touch ups done, then it's onto staining the floor and making that look good, Damn we nearly finished this job at long last

After having fitted out a few music rooms myself, the acoustics in that room will be awful. At least 3 of the walls should be carpeted if you've got a wooden floor.

But what do I know...?

hmmmm, marmite it's a private music room not a music studio or recording studio, once the soft furnishings go in there and a nice big rug that will soften the acoustics I mean what do I know? I have only built 8 gogo bars hey and those mirrors really fok up the sound

Hmm, nice purple suede wallpaper would help. It would look funky too.
