Works with a big rolling sandpaper, just like the small handhold ones.
But what about sanding against the grain? Does that not effect the result?
Final sand always has to be with the grain, but the initial sandings to get all the old crap off dont really matter.
You start with a real rough sand, then progress to smoother stuff once most of the old crud is off.
One of my floors was done with the same type of machine.
They sanded in both directions and I think they sanded against the grain before finnishing.
I have a handheld Makita and can't see any difference in the result between the directions. I'm of corse using a very fine sandpaper for the last round.
I might add that my floors are of hardwood , probably not direction sensitive..
