My wife bought (before we were married) an attached house.

Much to my disgust the initial construction was hideous. Walls are beginning to shift between units, plumbing supplies were cheap and the kitchen is a disaster, in my opinion.

Last year, she started to get water spots, then drips, then holes through several ceilings on the second floor. I finally got a big ladder and poked my head up through the small access hole (only a small Thai could get through this) to find that there are insufficient supports for me to get to the roof and effect repairs.

The problem seems to be two-fold. The first is that several of the tiles don't meet at the base of where the superior tile sits on the inferior. I can see daylight in many places. In a strong wind rain is blown inside and eventually finds it's way down to the hung drywall ceiling. Bad news.

In addition it seems some of the supports for the wires holding the ceiling (which for some unfathomable reason are in the roof themselves) aren't watertight.

What I need is someone who will come and either seal these gaping tiles and holes or to replace the roof. The second is not an option I really want to take as I don't plan on holding the house for more than another three years and a new roof seems like a ridiculous expense.

We are not the only house with these problems, almost all in the row have the same difficulties. When asking our neighbors how to fix the problem, they all say the same thing, "Can't fix." I know this is BS and just need someone to get up there and do the sealing, but have been unsuccessful in finding someone yet.

Anyone know of a decent roofing contractor in Hat Yai?

You can't fix it, sealent will only last a year at most, uv is too strong and destroys them all, either do a yearly fix or get the tiles taken down and some more supports and tile put in.

Thanks, DD. One of the reasons I came to this forum was the good advice I'd seen you dispense when I earlier tried to find out about this problem.

Anyone got any idea what this would set me back? It's half of a one-room (Thai measurement standards) that has some stupid little cupola thing that could easily go away for all I care.

Ideally, I'd like to replace it with fiber tiles (for insulation purposes) and then lay in some good insulation inside the roof...'cause it's hotter than hades after a sunny afternoon in that portion of the house.
