| Ao Nang | The official start date 21.07.08 ![]() Finally the day is here. The ceremony with the monks started at 09:00. The monks walked around the premises while giving blessings. They also lay down a rope for good luck and to prevent Phi-Pop from entering. Let’s hope it works. ![]() It hard work to be a monk it looks like. This gang had to take a break. The oldest monk is my wives uncle, lung Pra. The ceremony is done and the food is eaten. ![]() There are 20 of these holes. ![]() The grid bars are placed over the piles. ![]() The reinforcing cages are lifted in. ![]() There were lots of spectators and I bet a lot of “good” advice ![]() Final the reinforcement for the columns is in place. ![]() The first cages are in place decorated with ribbon, palm leafs, sugarcane and what looks like a fish pot. They symbolize happiness and good fortune. 99 Bath in coins were also thrown into the well for good luck. ![]() Here is my wife’s brother, khun Deng who will supervise the building for us. ![]() Here is Kuhn Tep married to my wives sister. He will do daily inspections and hopefully supply some pictures. ![]() The builder is in the middle. He runs several projects around Thailand. ![]() There is nothing wrong to say about the working clothes. I wonder how he looks when he goes home. ![]() Here is the sign at the building site. All I got today folks. |

| Nice one Panthip, I made it here eventually. I like the position of the road, making for a good aspect. Your plans look good, a bit more palacial than mine. I hope you save some money to get a decent garden going. This has the makings of a very good thread. Keep the pictures coming and the very best of luck with your project. |

| Ao Nang | Thanks a lot khun Loom and khun Sea Traveler but I have had very good tutors in you both. When it comes to the piling I’m not quite sure since it is part of the budget but I guess 80000 Bath. A mentioned before, there are 80 of these, 6 meter long and they are driven 1,5 meter below ground level. Tomorrow I go back offshore for a fortnight work shift but I will try to keep the tread going as long I get new photos. Nice work, 2 weeks on and 4 weeks off |

| Lamai Beach | Panthip, Best of luck on the construction. Having someone there everyday (like your brother-in-laws) is great. I just had my house completed (April 22) and I tried to be at the site as much as possible to make sure no short cuts were taken. I tried to stop by at lunch time so I took drinks and food each time I visited. The workers told my wife I had a jai dee (good heart). They seem to do the things I asked without hesitation. Were is your construction site? I live in JoHo which is a suburb of Korat. RD

| Ao Nang | 01.08.08 ![]() Finally something happens at the building site again. The crew have been away and finished another house in the neighbourhood. Today 4 person came back and on Sunday there will be more. We also received a lot of prefabricated reinforcement mesh. ![]() The girls are well protected so they don’t become ”si dam”. It must be awful hot indeed. ![]() Then the reinforcements are going in. ![]() And properly placed. ![]() The architect, in the gray shirt, is watching the iron being fixed. ![]() The reinforcement are in place ![]() A small forest is popping up ![]() Finally a better poster sign. So now you can all read the name of the company. |

| Ao Nang | Thanks a lot for your nice reply harrymand. I guess when it comes to English the foreigners will always be the underdog. It’s only naturally. But there will always be some funny blokes around. No, I didn’t make the drawings. An architect in Korat did that. I’m a piping engineer so I cannot draw houses. |
