    White cement,Chiang Mai

I was taken to the gf`s village, near Hang Dong, were traditional white cement is made.

Rocks are bought in,from a local quarry and placed in a kiln, the kiln takes one ton of rock to fill up.

Next, wood is bought locally(or they nip into the local forest),and the base of the kiln is filled up.

The wood is set on fire and allowed to burn for four days and four nights.
At the end of the burning period, the headman comes round and sprinkles water on the hot rocks. Then they are crushed up and made into white cement.

After the cement has been made,it is bagged up,in one kilo bags. If bought in the village,it`s sold at three-and a -half Baht a kilo bag. If you buy it in Chiang Mai,it sells for Five-and a -half Baht a kilo.
